Jones Gane physique comparison

No clue where you heard that 500 bench number.

But there's been videos of him on the net doing big squat and deadlift numbers for years

It's just genetics. There's a reason why he's called bones.

that's what he said in a recent interview, dude is 6'4 with long wingspan crazy range of motion he ain't benching anywhere near that even when he was juicing

Jones has been fighting as a pro for over 12 years, While Gane has fought for around 4 years. Not to mention the level of competition difference too.
The skill difference is too great.
It will be like a chess grandmaster, vs a younger chess local club player

Buncha size queens ITT

Jones looking pudgy
Going for that Fedor/Cain physique
Jones is going to be a cardio machine

He’s not doing 500lb. I have a strongman gym at my home and been lifting for 2 decades. I peak around 407.5lb. He was doing 315lb for 5 reps (which is impressive as hell for him) but clearly with struggle.

If he was hitting 500lb that 315lb would look light. I can move 315lb for speed doing pause reps or do more volume easier than he was. I’m guessing from what I seen there he’s like 350-360lb range.

Maybe higher if he had some fatigue from doing other shit. If he doesn’t as leading off with that lift and fresh (as he should have been) probably around there maxing out.

Jones big three lifts look impressive for his length. I haven’t seen him doing the things that got my bench high (overhead pressing, heavy rows, control and speed work). I was stuck around 300 range for some time before I did these things.

I just watched the interview I think he just screwed up his words.

They asked him his numbers on the big three lifts and Jon said "bench 315lb for 5 reps, 640lb for deadlift and 500lb to 525lb for bench” (he 100% had a brain fart and meant squat but said bench).

Nice, 407 lbs is impressive! 4 plates would be a dream for me. I can do 315 for 1 at my best, but that was when i was quite fat and heavy

Yet Jon will be significantly stronger than him. You sound like you have a Gane poster above your bed
We'll see about that. Jones may be more technical but I doubt he'll be stronger. He's going to be dealing with a true A-level HW athlete. Jones wasn't stronger than a lot of the fighters he fought at LHW, he was just more technical. You can tell by the pics Gane is noticeable bigger and more filled in muscular wise compared to Jones being soft and having a lot more fat than muscle. This is also the biggest fighter Jones has ever fought. There are no examples of Jones fighting anyone bigger than him to draw from. So it's a big question mark on how he will be able to perform without a size advantage.

Jones can win but I don't think he will be physically stronger than Gane. Jones trying to outmuscle Gane for 5 rounds - I don't think that's the best strategy.

Theres physique and functional strength. Im sure jones is stronger in the functional grappling strength than Gane. His leverage and technique are just better.

When i wrestled in HS, there was this kid who had no muscle mass or i’d now consider an askren physique, but when he grabbed you, he was strong af and he just had that body leverage he knew how to use. Of course, i had the better beach body.

cause muscles make you the best fighter.

Yeah, there's men named Buvasair Saitiev and Adam Saitiev. Adam, his Lil bro went up in weight to not compete with his brother for Olympic Gold and handled the shit out of Yoel despite being massively outsized.

Gane looks like a big natural HW

Jones look like a LHW who put some weight to fight in the HW division

It's obvious Jones is built on a lighter frame

Doesn't say much about their fighting skills, but I hope it won't affect Jones' speed, cardio and timing too much.

Fighting heavier after a 3 years break is tough. GSP's cardio was elite at WW. It wasn't that great at MW
