Jones fighting a washed up Miocic

Stipe looked like he was moving underwater as early as like 3-4 years ago. Dude is washed.

Didn't he do quite well in all DC fights considering he was eye poked in most of them? He was also doing kind of fine against Francis and even stunned him for a second right before going out.. something nobody else has ever done yet ..

Wow, so Jones said he was afraid to fight Cormier at HW initially and waited for him and Francis to retire and leave UFC before calling out a washed up 40 year old who hasn't fought in over 2 years, also a part time fire fighter... Cormier already softened Miocic up, and Francis already ko'd him pretty good. This should be an interesting fight though, what kind of shape Miocic comes in and how this 2 years went, he is certainly out of his prime.

The Jones victory dismissals are coming BEFORE he fights now

Usually fighters aren't deemed washed up until after the beats them, before that theyre going to kill him and he's afraid of them.

Pre-emptive damage control now I see.

AFTER he'd gassed himself out a bit trying to get a 2nd round KO. He looked fine before that, and again probably should've gotten a 2nd round KO if he'd dropped him just a tad sooner than when he did.

Well he didn't and look like a sloth

Ya totally washed. ..
lol

Dont forget he tagged Ngannou seconds before going full ape and getting Koed he also rocked Ngannou in there first fight ...

But i get it anyone Jones beats is shit and is washed

Umm you think he looked good lol?

I remember watching this fight and thinking it looked like DC was very serious when he said he didn't want to fight Francis. <36>

Jones vs Stipe at heavyweight is an all time great fight. 205 goat taking on the heavyweight goat with the heavyweight title on the line is a big deal, even if stipe is older and coming off a loss.
It's a fight that's completely irrelevant and has been irrelevant since about 3 years.

He refused to fight DC up there, and Gus just gave him the toughest fight of his life.

He certainly didn't want to fight Cain, or JDS etc.

Can't blame him for that LOL. Prime Cain or JDS...yikes. But you're right he didn't want that challenge and he certainly made the move up to HW in a much less "threatening landscape" than 6-8 years ago.

I agree that Stipe isn't the best fight to make, given that he is 40 and on a layoff and you have dangerous guys like Pav. But Jones is also getting old, and has given a lot for the sport, beating all the killers and legends at LHW, 16 title fights etc. If anyone deserves an "easy money fight" its him.

Jones bless
As long as we recognize it for what it is, then yes.

It is like GSP moving up for his win.

How the hell are you just ignoring the FACT Jones actually said it though?

There is NO fanbase more dishonest than Jones fans.

Lie some more now. It pisses you people off the majority of mma fans will NEVER consider him the GOAT. He’s not even voted as number 2 in the sticky poll.

You can’t be GOAT if you pop for PEDS.. Repeatedly. With the blessing of the UFC, and USADA. If you people are serious, I hope I never meet you, or your offspring. You must be so proud to bring up children teaching them people like Jones are actually heroes, and should be adored.

You want 44+ year old, 3 years inactive DC to fight 35 year old Jones now? Wow, you’re so brave.

You’re the epitome of that fanbase.

bruh, you’ve got 17,000 posts on a three year old account. Go outside. It’s a posting, not a dick, you don’t have to take it so hard.

HW division just seem to be forever mired in being a total shitshow

Alternate title: "Miocic fighting a washed up Jones"

People have been saying Jones has been out of his prime since the OSP fight (2016), or maybe even the first Gustafsson fight (2013). We've been told he's looked terrible, basically losing to bloated middleweights and only maintaining his hold on the division due to PEDs. We've heard that when he actually fights people his size, he looks average and beatable. We've even heard that he'd never go to heavyweight (despite being a "natural heavyweight"), because he'd lose quickly and repeatedly.

And now that he's actually showing some success, even the best fighters at heavyweight are bums now. Anything to discredit Jones, right? Somehow all his opponents aged and he never did?

its still a waste of time imo... Jones is still technically at the top of his game... Stipe will just be another boring 1 first finish most likely...I dont have any interest in it

Didn't he do quite well in all DC fights considering he was eye poked in most of them? He was also doing kind of fine against Francis and even stunned him for a second right before going out.. something nobody else has ever done yet ..

The last one he looked like dogshit, but he was fighting an even more washed DC in his last fight.

When did Jones ever say he was scared of Cormier? That doesn't even make sense, why would you be afraid of someone you beat twice. Can we please stop calling Jones scared? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Jones has been wanting to fight Stipe for a while stop hating on the man for taking control of his career. You Pav fans will get your time once Jones retires because even if the rumors of those fighting are true, Jones will still win. Like he always has, like he always does.

Can't blame him for that LOL. Prime Cain or JDS...yikes. But you're right he didn't want that challenge and he certainly made the move up to HW in a much less "threatening landscape" than 6-8 years ago.

Yeah, Im as impressed as some of the cats here are I guess.
Fighting the guys 8 years ago would have been far more impressive sir.

BS matchup.

who cares if u where on his shoes you will also do the same
ur just angry theres gonna be 1 big name added on his resume

@Royhalibut

I would pay $200 to watch Stipe fuck up roy.

It would be fun to watch roy learn the actual meaning of "washed up."

He's the GOAT imo, but it's bullshit matchmaking.

If your argument is that he deserves a money fight and it's more beneficial to him and his legacy than Pav blah blah blah - fine. But give up the belt if you want to chase money fights. That's what frustrates the fans.

Hell, Andre Arlovski would probably be an easier matchup than Stipe but we want the most qualified and dangerous contender for our champions, not to just pad the stats with more former champs who are past their prime.
