Jones fighting a washed up Miocic

(rumor has it)

The fight is off, calm down

Dude loses one fight and he is declared "washed" by punters in a MMA Forum. Sounds legit.

I think Stipe could still pose some problems for Jones, not giving him enough credit there TS.

I wish DC would come out of retirement to fight Bones at HW...and then when Bones beats him (again), the same people who a few years back were saying "Jones won't fight DC at HW because he knows he would lose" could continue living in their fantasy world with things like "But if this fight had happened in (insert year here), DC clearly would have won because (arbitrary and non-applicable reason)"

Lmfao so much casual in T.S and in this thread lol ..

Stipe is washed because of what? ..

No1 will be a good opponent for Jones with this mentality...

And anyone Jones beats was never any good ..am i right?

Wow, so Jones said he was afraid to fight Cormier at HW initially and waited for him and Francis to retire and leave UFC before calling out a washed up 40 year old who hasn't fought in over 2 years, also a part time fire fighter... Cormier already softened Miocic up, and Francis already ko'd him pretty good. This should be an interesting fight though, what kind of shape Miocic comes in and how this 2 years went, he is certainly out of his prime.

Pretty much.

Not sure if serious if you don't think stipe has been washed up for a while now. Even in his last win against DC he looked bad.

I agree that Stipe isn't the best fight to make, given that he is 40 and on a layoff and you have dangerous guys like Pav. But Jones is also getting old, and has given a lot for the sport, beating all the killers and legends at LHW, 16 title fights etc. If anyone deserves an "easy money fight" its him.

Jones bless

Easy money fight?
Homeboy was getting paid 5 million a fight at LHW, even when he should've been suspended for 4 years he got 18 months for ratting on other fighters.

He's had it pretty easy brother.

Stipe doesn't deserve to have a #3 near his name sir, let's be honest here.
The dude has been sitting out for 2 years, hasn't fought since he got blasted out by Ngannou.

He's 42 years old, that's not young, I think we can agree with that.

He's #3 that means there's 2 guys that deserve it more than him, you know....because they fought for it.

I meant easy as in opponent difficulty sir
He fought the toughest fighters at LHW. I dont feel people should label jones a duck or cherry picker for choosing an "easier" aging stipe

Thats 18 months not 28 btw...I just edited that.

He should've moved up in 2013 like he said he was going to, but we know why he didn't.
He also waited 3 years to "bulk up" only to bring a dad bod.

He has had many easy things come his way, and now he's fighting the #3 guy (that doesn't deserve that ranking for sitting out), and avoiding the the top 2 guys...seems a bit like cherry picking sir.

Right now maybe
But at LHW he definitely didnt cherry pick, fought all the title challengers presented to him

Why did Jon Jones move up to HW? I don't know why he didn't.

He has several good wins at LHW no doubt, and as far as skill wise he's a tremendous fighter, but I believe there's a reason he waited 5 years to fight Gus again.

Either way he's definitely picking the easiest fight here big guy.

Matt Brown just got a KO in his fight a couple of weeks ago, and he is 42, is he washed up? You guys use the term so loosely that it has become almost meaningless.

There's a name for this phenomenon which is "broadening". It usually applies to pejoratives, aka insults. They start with a specific meaning, but then due to the fact that they are not just descriptive terms but also have power as insults, the meaning gradually gets wider and wider until the word loses its meaning. Ultimately, people create a new term which is used in its place, which then goes through the same process. Sometimes this is known as the euphemism treadmill.

You can see this occurring in real time on internet forums. Same thing could be said of the word "can" in MMA usage, and probably a few others.

Why did Jon Jones move up to HW? I don't know why he didn't.

He refused to fight DC up there, and Gus just gave him the toughest fight of his life.

He certainly didn't want to fight Cain, or JDS etc.

sorry, but that is just going full blind in your hate, and accepting something that is purely wrong just because it serves your purpose...

1) Jon would not give this ADVANTAGE to DC (by fighting at HW). Very different than running from someone he beat a few times already. But he said (for a very long time) that he wanted to move up. Even before DC!
And Jon had already moved up when Francis left. But he had no idea Francis would leave the UFC. NO ONE Did at this point!

Last but not least, Jon fought last (at LHW) in February 8, 2020. He has been fighting for a very long time, and most people agree he is out of his prime and has been for a while, so why are you raging like he is in his prime fighting this rampage:

..

Miocic last fought in March 27, 2021 (a year after Jon stopped).
He was probably waiting for Francis for a rematch. After all, they are 1-1.

So according to you he is "old / washed up"??? That, I strongly disagree with!

Because say whatever you want, but he has been fighting at the top of the pyramide, only against top contenders. And apart from Francis, he beat them all.
And last but not least, I recall reading somewhere an interview with his wife, and she was saying he was taking training very seriously, and was on the best (physical) shape than he showed in his previous fights (especially where he thought of going big against Francis).

Sherdog... where regardless of who you're fighting you suck, they suck and the event is going to suck lol. i'm kidding but imo the division needs regular fights and while i think we all kind of know Stipe not likely to be in his best form but if he's down for it I say we keep the ball rolling.
