Jon was already slowing down before his break...

I think it is safe to say that the last three Jones fights were overall his worst performances in the octagon, against not necessarily the best competition he had. He had an underwhelming if dominant performance against a very passive Smith, a passive and controversial split decision win against a former MW in Santos who had also two knees shot, and another controversial decision win against Reyes, who most think won the decision.

Whether it be wear and tear, age, or not being on the juice, I think it is clear Jones wasn't performing as well or looking nearly as imposing as he had previous years, particularly before his last suspension. One egregious thing is that since the second Gustaffson fight, his wrestling seems to be appearing less and less.

With this in mind, the question is: why do people think he would be successful at HW? Granted, HW is populated by older, and non-well rounded fighters like Tuivasa, Lewis, Gane, or even Ngannou. But they are a lot bigger, and Jones is now older, heavier, and hasn't fought in years. He also will not have the same reach advantage he usually enjoys at LHW, and the two fighters that had long reach at LHW gave him notorious trouble in Gus and Reyes.

Many think his skillset, even factoring rust and deterioration, is enough to compensate in a very weak division like HW. But if Jones was performing like that against Smith three years ago... why would anyone think he will perform well agianst someone like Ngannou?

Jones is so good that when he wins a fight COMPLETELY unscathed, he looks "bad"

The guy has NEVER lost fight, he's never even been rocked.

If three fighters he destroyed became HW champions, there is absolutely no reason he couldn't follow suit.

Hell DC never even lost a round at HW (after winning the SF Grand Prix) , until he faced Jones

DC and Jones did not fight at HW.

DC and Jones did not fight at HW.
DC walked through the HW divisions of two organization without losing a round yet alone a fight.
He dominated the Strikeforce HW Grand Prix.

DC never lost a round (yet fight) until facing Jones

So? No one is arguing about how good Jones looked against Cormier.

Rampage didn't get finished for anyone but Jones for like 15 fleeping years. No one really appreciates any of this anymore and it's really sad.

Na. Shogun, Wand x2 and Saku al finished him.

Not sure if it's because he's slowing down or if it's PEDs or if he's not motivated/entertained enough to perform at a high level. Or if it's his arrogance, as he barely used his wrestling against opponents whose strength is striking. I think much of it his is arrogance - he believes he is the best and that no one can beat him. His arrogance probably made him think he won against Santos which most don't think he did.

Maybe moving up to HW will change things around. He should know that he will be facing more dangerous opponents and fooling around may instantly lose him the fight. Or perhaps with a KO loss to Ngannou or Miocic will knock all the arrogance out of him and allow him to focus again on winning fights rather than proving to your opponent you are better than them at their strength. I don't think Jones is done just yet and that clear cut loss will only make him better.

Jones never gonna fight someone big as he is, adesanya always fought smaller guys also.
