Economy Jon Stewart and Bernard Sanders

I still like Kyle. I think hes useful under someone who can school him on a more disciplined idea of leftist politics. He has good delivery and he's good at getting difficult audiences like young men. He just cant convince them that he's dumber than he advertises. Only the right can get away with that.
I don't think he is a bad guy at all. He is just misinformed. I'll take him over Krystal Ball or the rest of TYT anyday.

Also Cenk lost me when he spoke to PBD "from Capitalist to Capitalist"...it made sense from there why he would Union-bust in his own organization. Cenk's vision was to be the Fox News of the left. He expected, I think, to be floated by small donations the way Bernie's campaign was. And you CAN accomplish that, but not by appealing to capitalism the same way every other news organization does.
Oh god. I can only imagine how insufferable that conversation could have went. PBD is an absolute bitch to anyone that disagrees with him on corporate tax cuts. But yeah, Cenk officially checked out for now.

<mma1>

Bernie was the one, damnit.

Pretty crazy that his perceived age was one of the things that worked against him 2016 (he did look and sounded much older than anyone in the race) but he's as spry and sharp as ever in 2024, when his second term would have been over.

The fact that he was beaten pretty decisively in the primary is a testament to how elections are only partly based on policy and partly (mostly, imo) on personal image, likability, charisma, group identity, etc.

If it was just about policy, he would have been elected dictator-for-life 30 years ago. Even conservatives find a lot to agree with him on. But he wasn't well-known, is kinda creepy and old-looking, doesn't crack jokes, so he got beaten out by Hillary. And yeah, Democrats all dropping out in unison and backing her obviously helped, but it wasn't the only factor.
The only time I've EVER voted was in the 2016 primary when I first moved to California. The morning of the primary, it think it was the sacramento bee, ran a front page article saying that Hilary had won california...so before everyone voted.

WTF

Krystal is better than Kyle at debating progressive rhetoric. She just manhandled Cenk in a debate herself, recently.

These cucks both wait until after the dust has settled to start speaking up, not when they actually had leverage and could have done something. Typical.

Put it like this. Not very long ago Kyle was in league with Cenk. I've always thought Cenk was a bit disingenuous and that Ana was kind of a paid pretty face. If I wanted to put together a "leftist" network with a pretty face, you get someone like Abby Martin, who is good enough rhetorically that Rogan had her on, and so unafraid she criticized Putin on a Russian network and got canned for it.

Then Kyle was pining for the days where he got along with Rogan, but I could have told you Brogan was more right than left 15 years ago, he should have WAY anticipated Brogan's full embrace of MAGA.

All of this makes Kyle look like a "Johnny Come Lately"...like hes not as savvy as he portrays, and given how he kept backing Williamson when it was obvious she was unelectable (despite possibly being the best candidate for progressive policies), he harped on that in a way that likely alienated voters from electorialism altogether. So in the end, it didnt help much, unless you're an accelerationist.
Yeah but Kyle never struck me as afraid to disagree with Cenk and he hasn't followed him down the "why I left the left" path, so I firmly disagree with the "grifter" comment, along with my other reasons. I also like Abby Martin, haven't watched Empire Files in a hot minute meow that I think of it. She's very principled, I remember watching her speak out about Putin on Russia Today.

Yeah, Kyle has publicly said he's not good at judging trajectory and listed off several people who others said were going the rightwing route that he defended at the time, taking ownership of his mistakes. He's also criticized his election prediction. He's gone deep on Brogan as Brogan has - in his 50s - apparently done a 180 politically, at least from his stated positions. Kyle seems to have thought he talked some sense into him, it's odd that I don't see more grifter accusations toward Brogan but maybe there are and I just miss them.

Him continuing to back Williamson I don't remember, but that might've been when I took a break from watching his channel and political videos in general.

Like I said, my problem is that a lotta the criticisms I see thrown his way are some combination of bad faith and in instances like earlier just plain wrong. I like Kyle as a current events guy, I get the gist of what's going on, for more in depth stuff I look to other peeps.

She gets a lot of practice too with Sager I imagine lol, I cannot stand that guy. Her level of patience must be nigh infinite

I don't think Stewart has ever shut up and Bernie, whatever you think of his strategy the last few years, has still been on the correct side of things for a long time. I disagree with moves he's made as well but I think throwing him out over disagreements is going too far. I'm not gonna call him trash over that.

Yeah I wasn't saying Kyle is disingenuous, but just that he's a bit too idealistic while also punching to the left of himself decrying them as too idealistic.

What all these characters need to do is unify. Instead of merely trying to capitalize on enticing right wingers with rignt wing commentators or guests, shift ACTUALLY to the left (not calling centrism "left" merely because the right are becoming unapologetically authoritarian) and focus on punching right. With a pledge to keep dissent behind closed doors and let each other do their thing the way they do it.

The cliff note would be “are both losers”

Happy to comment on any and every issue, but often in the wrong side of everything, kowtowing to establishment everytime and breaking the will of the populist left.

While I disagree with John on a number of topics he does at least seem to believe what he says and isn’t grandstanding. He’s full of shit sometimes but I think he just doesn’t know when he is
Give a mike to anyone and the same thing will happen.
