There is no reasonable way to compare the legacy of Khabib to the legacies of GSP, Fedor, Jones*, Silva*, Aldo, or DJ

The Khabib lapriders who do it were likely introduced to the sport by Khabib. The vast majority of them didn't even see his first 8 fights in the UFC, or the real GOATs compete in their primes.

There is one legit argument for Khabib that makes him comparable, though. There is multiple times more competition globally at LW than at LHW or HW, for example. It means each win at LW is worth multiple times more than a win at LHW or HW.

Let's say there are 5x more LW fighters than HW fighters globally (I don't know the exact number). That would mean a one top50 win for LW fighter equals one top10 win for a HW fighter, etc. When you compare it that way, Khabib's resume starts to look a lot more impressive. And let's be honest, that point should not be ignored. Difference in competitiveness between weightclasses is a 100% legit argument.

The major difference is strength of competition. Check the overall career stats of some of their opposition.
In 2011 Jones fought 4 times: Bader (30-7), Shogun (27-13), Rampage (38-14) and Machida (26-12).

Khabib fought 7 times in 2011 but against complete nobodies. Those dudes are 5-3, 13-13, 2-5, 3-6, 8-4, 8-5 and 42-39. Pretty much all journeyman.

The insecurity of Jones is really impressive. How you can be so dysfunctional after having so much success is a mystery.

Its interesting how with Jones PED abuse gets completely ignored but its understandable. People focus on how the UFC handles it and UFC always protected and applauded Jones so the fans do the same.

Imo GOAT is just unnecessary especially discussing it in heated arguments. There is no objective way. Well there are clear exclusion points for my pov like PED abuse (especially high level hardcore treatments) but I guess most americans dont see it that way.
