Jon Jones makes 5 million + a fight

How is he admitting that he could've made 10 million + when his tweet said he admits he made 5 million + in previous fights?

Well, according to Okamoto, Dana said he was willing to give him an extra 5mil. If he was bullshitting, which is possible, Jon should call him on his bluff and take the offer of the extra 5mil. It was posted here:

It would at least make Jon seem more credible if he came out and said he's ok with that number.

Although I just looked up the First Take clip and Dana says something different than what Okamoto said. God, Brett is such a shill. Unless I have the wrong clip (stamped). At this point who knows, I might be wrong. But Jon is too erratic with his statements.

Another tweet shows that Jon was willing to accept 15.

So 5 million bucks is the difference between an acceptable and an 'obscene' amount of money?

Something doesn't add up...

he should get paid a lot more. athletes get paid a lot of money now.

it is hard to justify why certain star athletes in other sports get paid $50 million a year, and jon jones is getting $5 million a fight except that he has all the extracurricular criminal stuff that would be controlled better...

to put into perspective, even tv sports personalities get paid in millions a year... jon jones and other fighters are the real content/talent and shoudl be making far more

I think 5 million is about what I thought given his status and his brothers being big millionaires. Obviously Jones has millions and I didn’t think he would get 10mil plus a fight but anywhere between 3 and 9 I wouldn’t have been surprised.

imagine if he still had Nike.

I would have guessed under, but leaving the UFC would be a bad call. I cant think of a organization that would payout 5mil per fight.

that's better than 99 percent of UFC roster, Johnny boy

to put this into perspective:

EZN3Wi0XkAE8PDf

That is kind of a lazy comparison though...it ignores a ton of relevant context, depending upon what the purpose of your comparison is.

I'd have guessed around 3 tbh. So its higher than i expected.

And really 5+ is a good solid amount. I'd get if he wants to double that for the francis fight but its not gona do conor/khabib numbers so 30 mil is a stupid ask.

I actually can't believe he still gets that much after all the shit he's done. Pulled out of fights instead of taking replacement opponents, countless drug test failures that have led to him nearly ruining events, needing to have events moved, arrests and just general shitty behavior, isn't charismatic at all on the mic, can't do commentating or analyst work because no one wants to listen to him. He doesn't even draw huge numbers without DC.

I literally never side with the UFC on fucking anything but Jones should be thanking them profusely, and he's actually claiming to be hurt by their lies, when he's the one who has teased this HW move every year for the last 7 years and never followed through. I can't believe he was stupid enough to reveal that he actually makes more money than we thought. The guy is flailing now that we know beyond all doubt that he doesn't want to fight Ngannou, it's that simple.

you can nitpick all you want.
it gives an idea of how much money he makes per fight compared with the greatest (and the most expensive) fighters. It also does not include Lesnar or Ronda, but it shows he is not making an exorbitant amount like haters are saying. he is on par with the rest. And making (far) less than the popular ones who accomplished far less than him.

Those are poverty wages for their biggest draw.

Canelo makes about at least $30 million per fight. MMA fighters get screwed in comparison to boxers.

Making 5 million and more per fight should be enough to fight anybody at this point hes got atleast 30 mil in the bank

So he’s a multi-millionaire complaining he isn’t a bigger millionaire? During a global economic crisis

I have no sympathy for Jon or Dana. Neither should be complaining about money

Jones said he might do it for 15m... but 10 to 15m is a pretty massive difference. I'm sure Jon must have some sort of agent negotiating these deals for him though. I'm not sure what the point of him ranting on twitter is, not a great move PR wise.

I don't understand why UFC doesn't disclose the real numbers for the top fighters. It would shut the media up about MMA fighters not getting paid.

They don't want fighters to make pay comparisons. Eg fighter ranked #3 finds out fighter ranked #8 actually makes more than him, gets triggered & upset. In other sports, players always try to make pay comparisons eg I have better stats than that guy, I should be paid more than him. A long time ago, 1 of the UFC's top stars (I honestly don't remember who, it was so long ago, possibly Couture or Rampage) said that the UFC told him he was the #2 highest paid guy on the roster. When he had private conversations with some other top stars, he found out this wasn't the case & he felt "betrayed" or something like that.
