Jon Jones is the GOAT

Lemme put it like this. He is doing things at this point of his career that supersedes what they'd done at that age.

Anderson, GSP and Fedor all weren't at Jones' level when they were 28.
Things were a lot different back then.

He is 3 years without losing in a legit promotion. He lost 2 fights in a smaller promotion. He is champion of one division in the UFC.
If he keeps up what he is doing, he'll certainly be a contender for GOAT. Right now hell no.

If he gets a second belt he is there for sure.

Heck BJ got 2 belts while being incosistent and lots put him in the top 5.

Everyone knows Jones doesn't have enough fights against 2-1 freak show opponents or washed up also rans to be GOAT.

Not GOAT right now. If he wins his title back and takes on and wins the HW title he's almost there. What happens after that matters. Dude is young still.

Agreed. But keep in mind JJ may get the HW belt as well. Even though i dont agree, heavier divisions are more prestigious belts.

Fighters peak at different times. Let's see if Jones is front kick KOing people at 35.

love him or hate him JJ and Fedor are right there as GOAT. We have to see how JJ finishes his career though.

Sorry, so the guy who's never lost and has like 22 wins consecutively against like 4-5 former champions still needs to go up and beat the HW champ and then he "MIGHT" be the GOAT???

When was the last time Fedor beat a top 20 HW?

When was the last time GSP won 2 belts?

When was the last time Anderson won 2 belts?

Anderson Silva is the GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be a great accomplishment but honestly speaking you need to give this more time. This is barely the beginning for Conor.. we'll evaluate his record 5-10 years from there. Then we can determine if he will be the GOAT. Conor's on the right path right now and if he keeps winning he will get to GOAT status really fast.

That's true but you'll run into the argument that everyone peaks at different times. The fact that he was dominant so young, and more notably, so early in his career is the real impressive part. There were no early career losses that will blemish his record. He just walked right into the sport, kicked everyone's ass and nothing has changed since.

I can't handle this much longer lol. How can you be the GOAT when you're not well rounded? It's not just about records, or titles, how about the little detail of what you can actually do to an opponent?

McGregor has a left hand, and some nice slick kicks. He has zero offensive or defensive grappling game, zero submisison game, with minimal submission defense. There are many facets to MMA, he is only great in one of them and is very poor in the others... how are we suggesting future GOAT status with zero title defenses? Did anyone plead future GOAT for Jones when he beat Rua? or GSP when he beat Hughes? or Silva when he beat Franklin?

Let's slow ze fuck down.

MMA is constantly evolving and Jon is young. He's in contention but he could fall off too. He could win 2 belts and then self destruct. Conor could win 3 belts and defend 2. Stephens might do good things. The past accomplishments were great for their time but this is a different time and we have to let Jon resume his career before calling him GOAT.

If he's not, does it matter?

He's body of work is already better than Anderson's on competition alone.
I agree but this is different times. Anderson fought the best in his time so you can't blame him. That was the hand he was dealt.

Sure he looks great now but he'll probably suck when he's 40 and by that time a new younger dominant champ will probably be on the scene...so we can fast forward and say Jones was never that good and new guy X is the GOAT.

It's not "his fault" but that's like saying DJ or Cruz are in the GOAT argument then?

They cannot help the lack of talent in their division, so I guess DJ and Cruz are just as good as Jones at the rate of their career.

That's not how it works in my opinion.

Doesn't matter if he has weaknesses as long as he's winning fights and winning titles. That is the path to greatness and you can't deny it.. it's a fact. And I think you misunderstood what I was saying.. what I'm saying is Conor is not the GOAT right now.. or even soon. Like I said we'll see how it all looks in 5-10 years from now. Maybe in that time he will have 10-15 title defenses.. we don't know yet but he's headed in the right path. So just sit back and relax.
