Jon Jones evolution is a myth

Would have been a better and more interesting thread if it was. Jon jones: "evolution is a myth"

That statements isn't too fair only because jones's performance against shogun was as close to perfect as one is going to get so any other performance after wards would of course not be as good.

What you are saying would be like saying after the tony fryklund knockout all of Silva's other knockouts are less impressive. While true technically it's tough to do better than that elbow no matter how spectacular his other knockouts look.

Anything positive about a fighter other than "KO power" or "Iron chin" is a myth on Sherdog

These 'myths' usually get rolling because of Joe Rogan and his exaggerations, which can go too far.

Brandon Vera's Olympic caliber wrestling
Rashad's excellent head movement
Various other guys with "world class" skills

His evolution is obviously slow down the more he improves. And I son't think he'll ever be as good a striker as Anderson, at least not when it comes to stopping guys.

You haven't seen the evolution because you aren't looking for it, in this game it takes time and a lot of time.

From the shogun fight to the Rashad fight to now, it has only been about two years. It takes years to improve in MMA since you train everything from wrestling to striking, Jones is slowly progressing in his stand up and kickboxing.

Jones oblique kicks and kick boxing look crisper including the little things he does which is control distance and better defensive stirking. Jones stand up is a bit crisper then before which was sloppy and he actually has a better jab now. Compared to the shogun fight, jones didnt have a jab to save his life but he showed one in the Rashad fight.

Some of you expect way too much from Jones, he is human, this is not a video game. Its been about two years from the shogun fight, lets relax a bit.

Jones hasn't regressed..he's just more calculated and patient. All the while finishing fights. The first round finishes are a thing of the past..he now will gradually beat you into a pulp until his hands and elbows start to hurt then just submit you. And arguably his win over machida was more impressive then that of shogun

When I read the thread title I thought Jon Jones was trying to get a position as a Kansas biology teacher

I have to say I disagree with TS. Jones is getting better with each fight.

yeah he is no next big thing thats for sure, he is a great fighter that has improved and worked on his main advantage that is his reach, that and the fact that he has a very solid wrestling background to keep it on the feet is what has kept him the belt for this long.

Just another Brazilian Jones hater that cant stand the fact that the best fighter in the world is American. Get over it.

His ability to get on top of anyone he wants has also seemed helpful

Ur right, he's looked terrible when he choked out Rampage and Machida and when he schooled Rashad and beat up Vitor.

The only thing that will keep Jones from becoming GOAT is if he keeps driving drunk and ends up destroying his body. We've seen with Frank Mir what a bad accident can do to an elite talent.

There will come a point however when the people he is fighting are of such a teir that it would look like he is 'slowing down', when in fact he is simply fighting better competition. He is still winning in dominating fashion, however he is no longer decimating people as offhandedly as he once was.

That said, few people have made Shad, Machida, Vitor and Page all look as powerless as Jon has.

Im not a huge Jon Jones fan, but its hard to deny he is a force. Will he be the next Anderson Silva, KOing ppl showcasing standup abilities few can match? Perhaps not, but he's not exactly struggling through the competition without that skill.

He's young, powerful and demands victory from himself, I dont think you really know what you're talking about.
