He is never going to have AS precision in his striking, nor will he ever have the kind of defensive striking movement that AS possesses.

However he has excellent timing and his wrestling is absolutely top notch. The kind of submissions he has pulled off have been very impressive.

When I watch a Jones fight I'm generally more excited to see his wrestling skills than his striking. People often forget how instrumental his wrestling was towards his win against Shogun.

Jon fights smarter now than when he did against shogun.

Jones left himself open more than once in the Shogun fight and keep a pace that that tired him out too quickly, you can tell him's been working on his defense more and he wears down opponents more instead of just going full power.

Jon picks his shots more and waits for opening more than before but he's better at capitalizing on the mistakes now more than ever though.

Jon became a smarter fighter.

If you train, you evolve. You can't train and not improve. He will evolve to his own best abilities and can't compare him to Silva or anyone else. GSP evolved to the GSP he is today and Anderson evolved to the fighter he is today, both very effective but very different.

After Shogun he didn't do any damage nor relevant combination against anyone aside rocking blind Machida. Lost the first round to Machida and Rashad and was losing the fourth to Vitor

Jones is really extraordinary if you think about it. He can strike with Machida, a guy who most people would name among the best strikers in MMA. Destroy shogun standing up. He makes TDs look easier than almost anyone else, and looks impossible to take down. On top of that he's been pulling crazy subs.

I don't like the guy but his skills are crazy. I do agree with TS though he hasn't looked more impressive since the shogun fight. But there isn't a lot of room for improvement as far as his offense goes. The only thing is i think his defense still has some major holes that elite strikers can exploit.

Anderson and Jones have very different styles and come from different backgrounds, Silva Muay Thai and Jones wrestling.

What's the point of taking unnecessary hits when you don't have to, Jon is 25 and has many years left to grow and fight, taking unnecessary hits can end or shorten a career.

Both Anderson and Jones are great at what they do, there's not only 1 way to fight.

Jones is beast and until they can find someone to pose a threat to his reign then we will have 4 people in different weight classes that go unbeaten for a long long time. This essentially means bad news for the UFC, if they can't find quality fighters to challenge these specific 4 individuals because they will lose money.

Why you think they are making all these so called "Super Fights" lately? Its because people are losing interest in the current roster of potential opponents for the champs.

I for one would like them to just have a tournement in each division to decide who faces the champ and see how that works because at the moment the spot for the Number 1 contender is a little boring especially when the champ has already beaten the same people.

He always looks impressive and everyone wants to see him fight to see how he'll finish next. I am a fan...as much as I don't like admitting it for some reason.

I agree with ts that jones hasn't looked better in any of his past 4 fights as he did in the shogun fight.
I think part of that is the fact that he was very motivated in that fight and really went for it.

But he has reached a very high level very quickly so to see big leaps on his game won't really happen. That we saw from him between the obrien fight through the shogun fight.

But even in the last 4 he still has shown growth and new skills he's developed. Subtle things and improvements.

I don't think it's that he hasn't looked as good as the shogun fight. It's more he had the fight of his life much like any fighters have vs shogun, but has still looked great and dominant since.

Or that Shogun had the worst fight of his life, much like he's always had when returning from knee injuries.

I think he will get better, however I doubt he would excel at all areas.
He will have a specific skill set and just workshop those techniques.
He will be the GSP that can finish fights in bad fashion.
