Jon Jones destroyed the HW division

Jones lastfight was 165 days ago

He hasn't fought in half a year and still doesn't have a fight booked. That is not the normal course of things in any division, setting aside the fact that there is a literal Interim Champion and there is no debate over the next booking - he simply refuses to book it.

Stipe was the #2 ranked fighter after Jones choked out the #1 fighter.

It is absurd at face value to be ranked at all if you have not fought in 3 years. Retired fighters cannot be ranked by definition - others cannot fight in your place, you have to fight your peers to be ranked among them.

Fighting a retired fighter - retired for years - who was coming off a knockout loss, was outrageous. This is the UFCs fault. Jon is a prize fighter and picked a retired fighter who was murdered in his last fight, now 42 years old, because that was the easy payday. The org should not have allowed this, but they wanted easy money too.

Why isnt Tom or the other HWs active?

Tom has literally already defended an interim belt. There is no such thing as a SECOND defense of an interim belt. Jon will defend or vacate.

He'll retire, which is fine, but its bad for everyone the UFC allowed this to drag on.

Speaking of facts: The Miocic/Cormier trilogy, especially the last two fights, are some of the most overrated fights in MMA history. Basically they consisted of a man with a broken back fighting a man with broken knees, both of them moving far too slowly to avoid getting hit by the other guy. They were terrible fights, and Miocic was very clearly a charcoal briquette, not merely toast, by the time they were done. After the Ngannou rematch he was a brain-damaged charcoal briquette.

That Miocic was the number two ranked UFC HW at that point says it all about both the quality of the rankings and the quality of the division.

He did not destroy it. But he defintely did better than we thought. I thought Stipe was going to KO him but he did not. Although I think Stipe hestitated too much if he unleashed he would have tagged him. I don't see him beating like a prime Overeem or JDS but he did very well. If I were him Id hang em up unless he spent all his money. Not saying he should retire due to his age but rather he has not much to prove anymore.

He didn't have to beat any HWs to earn a title shot, and he didn't have to beat a HW champion to get a belt...... and now he refuses to even defend that belt against anybody who is an active fighter.
