see, i think Jon is a lot more calculated than that. i think he purposely got that big because he knew he was fighting Gane and wanted the extra size to help him grapple. i think he lost the weight vs Stipe because he wanted to be faster and exploit Stipe's lack of speed. even the way he fought shows. he bullied Gane back into the cage and consistently took the center of the octagon. vs Stipe he fought his more normal LHW style of using distance and potshotting after he had dumped him on his head and delivered that onslaught of elbows.

Jon is a lot of things but dumb is not one of them. to get as good as he is everything is done on purpose. that's why he is who he is.
