I'm aware it's not a popcorn movie, I was saying it's not even a dumb but entertaining movie.

What was good about it other than Phoenix's performance? What was it trying to be?

The cinematography was pretty good

Yep. Only 58 on Metacritic. :(

I didn't think it was anything spectacular but I am always amazed at people who take meaning from user ratings. Metacritic, rotten tomatoes. Imdb, etc. At least half of the time I completely disagree with the ratings. They are useless and annoy me more often than inform me.

Enjoyed,

8.5-9/10

If you don't want to pay attention to a plot and just want costumes and explosions STAY AWAY..

Let's just say...even Martin Scorsese would watch it..

-about endgame-

"When all the characters showed up at the end, I totally marked out."

-about joker-

"What was it besides an in depth character study with one fantastic performance?"

-people who remember when real movies were popular-

*facepalm*

If you liked the original avengers more than say.. Rainman, or Ghandi, this movie might not do it for you. If you think those movies are dated, and shazam is what movies are now, maybe skip this.

Shazam was fucking awesome and Rainman sucked. never even heard of Ghandi. This movie was an amazing performance by Phoenix but otherwise it was lacking and boring.

Critics are hating on this movie because it doesn't follow the "insult the watchers intelligence" formula that has been carved out. It's a throw back to real cinema, and that's a threat.

Jesus nevermind.

It was a movie about what one man went through to destroy him. It was near perfect. The movie was perfect until the last act, at which time it just became ok.. Redeemed at the very end a bit.
So his performance captivated you, that's fine.

I hated the last part. Sounded like a school shooter, that's not the Joker's MO. They distilled him down to 'mentally ill guy who gets picked on snaps', then made him inspiring? Meh. Very shallow movie outside of Joaquin's performance.

It was very well made.

The way he sounded on the show really annoyed me. I was ready to give the movie a 10/10, and it dropped there to a point where I could have given it an 8.

Hey man Fuck You!!!

I liked the damn movie,

Pick on that other nerd...

Man the dwarf tryna get the door on his way out was fucking killing me and my friend lmaooo. Thats one of the funniest scenes Ive seen in a movie in a looooooong time

8/10 solid movie, can def see a higher ranking if ur big on character studies and the Joker character in particular. There was this chick sitting beside us who was the only one laughing at certain scenes with Joker and she had a weird laugh too. It was creepy AF

I didnt like when they Fight Club dumbed down the girl being with him as him imagining it........it was pretty obvious by that point. Didnt need to spell that out

I have seen youtube reviews question why the girl suddenly hated him

They might have needed to spell it out more

I couldn't believe I was the only one in my theatre laughing at that.. But I never stopped laughing about what he said when they asked him why he was wearing the make-up..

Things Im still unclear on

- did he kill Sophie? I think he didnt since she made convo with him in the elevator and smiled when he made the joke after. She was scared when he was inside but i think the door was closed from the inside when he left. I think there were ambulance sirens after tho....

- the half brother thing....i thought it was kinda tacky and for sure proven wrong w/ her psychiatric records of narcissistic personality disorder/delusional psychosis, but Wayne couldve easily paid for those to be done himself (at the same time Arthur couldve inherited it from his mom w/ how similar they are to his illnesses), and there's that photo that said something about "your smile - TW".

No, he didn't kill her

They added in the ambiguity of the half brother thing to add confusion to the Joker origin. It was paying homage to the confusing Joker origin stories from the comics. Him being a wayne or not isn't important to the story.

It was paying homage to all the future interactions they would have. It was foreshadowing reasons the joker may be obsessed with "playing" with wayne. It was also left a tad ambiguous as to whether he was, or was not, with 90/10 not being likely.
