Saw it tonight and wasn't impressed. It had it's moments but I found it uneven and I thought the ending (on Murray's show) was hot garbage.

Joaquin Phoenix was great and did all he could with the material. I didn't read any of the reviews but I can't be the only one who saw a lot of Rupert Pupkin and Travis Bickel in there.

Speaking of Deniro... he was so horribly miscast. He's a great actor but if you've ever seen him do an interview, he's an absolute DUD with no charisma, so I wasn't feeling him playing a late night host.

My guess is they pursued him because the Joker tries to capture the spirit of the King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, but yeah he sucks as a late night Talk Show Host.

There is no canon origin of the Joker.
sure the guy enters the picture as a grown ass man, life unknown

but his "turn" to villainy was tackled. In the oldest comic books he had shreds of motives for running around. he stole diamonds and shit

I didn't say there's no origin of the Joker; I said there's no canon origin of the Joker. There's a difference.

killing joke isn't canon because my kids don't need that garbage in their eyeballs at a young age

Closest most popular one is probably the Red Hood into a vat of chemicals from the Killing Joke.
Well that's not from The Killing Joke; Alan Moore just used that story in The Killing Joke. But he didn't create it.

well you sound like a real hoot at parties
Just don't misinterpret or misquote me. Take note of my exact words.

I was feeling generous and gave it a five. Phoenix is excellent but the movie, while engaging, becomes predictable and paints him very one dimensionally. It's very hollow and doesn't say anything interesting despite touches on various issues, nor do I find this a remotely believable backstory for the Joker. In fact if it wasn't called Joker it could just be about some guy and no one would know.

Heath Ledger's Joker is still GOAT. This was okay at best.

I see millenial contrarions who.thouggt endgame was a masterpiece acting like this wasn't a very good movie.

That's ok.

Well I am on sherdog watching t.v. on a Friday, so we will see.

You're 26, aren't you?

32 . Technically still a Millennial. I thought Phoenix was great , but the plot was straight forward and the majority of the cast felt bland and De Niro was miscast for the sake of the connection to his two movies.
