Phoenix craps in ledgers mouth in terms of acting performance. He gets the oscar if there us any honesty left.

This movie was very good. The final 1/5th took it from a 10 to a 8.5-9 for me. His personality (talking style) and mannerisms "changed" near the end and it ruined what was a perfect groove. The movie was in perfect groove until then.

I have a joker sounding laugh, and I kept laughing at parts nobody else in the theatre was laughing at. I think it enhanced my experience. One hilarious joke literally flew right past everybody's head in the theatre, and I laughed for literally 3 minutes.

Anyways, this is probably the best movie of the year. It almost felt confined by it's ties to the rest of the comic universe at times. I would be emersed, and then a reminder would pop up that it wasn't something totally new, and it would annoy me. It is still one of the five greatest movies based on comic characters ever made.

8.5-9/10

I’m sure everyone else enjoyed having you in the theatre.

Reportedly has beaten the Thursday night record set by VENOM.

The girls probably did.

As we were walking out some white kid started making autistic noises, which I think was his retort, and it was sad. The movie was a tragic comedy. I laughed a lot, and I almost cried once.

Ledger has more "youtube clip" moments with his performance

More memorable scenes

Thats all I was saying

Saw it tonight and wasn't impressed. It had it's moments but I found it uneven and I thought the ending (on Murray's show) was hot garbage.

Joaquin Phoenix was great and did all he could with the material. I didn't read any of the reviews but I can't be the only one who saw a lot of Rupert Pupkin and Travis Bickel in there.

Speaking of Deniro... he was so horribly miscast. He's a great actor but if you've ever seen him do an interview, he's an absolute DUD with no charisma, so I wasn't feeling him playing a late night host.

Pheonix is good but....not Oscar-worthy imo

I feel like Ledger was not necessary better but more memorable

Considering how many people have voted 10/10, I think this movie is highly overrated

This is a 7.5/10 type movie

Agreed and I'm surprised so many people thought it was so great. I'd give it a 6.5 tops.

Will watch during the 2nd week.

I disagree with that. But it's an opinion thing, and honestly I think you may be in the majority with the youtube/gif thing. Phoenix moments were deeper, and would resonate with me more, personally.

The ending interrupted what I felt was a fairly perfect flow throughout. Literally took a full point off for me.

But Phoenix performance makes this movie so much more than what some of you are saying.

This movie is made for the tweener generation. The 77-83 generation. This movie is not for the lowered movie expectation generation, OR when Xers who didn't have the sarcasm built in.

Younger folks aren't going to "get" this movie. They have been fed shit, and are accustomed to the taste. I'm guessing you are an older millenial, close to 30, and I can see ruthless being mid 40s. This movie is going to hit 37-42 year olds in the wheelhouse.

The ending felt like a transition from a Taxi Driver type movie into a true comic book movie

Endgame 2 part suckEd
Endgame is barely a real movie compared to this. Infinity war did as well as an avengers movie possibly could have, mostly because of the gotg tbh. I don't see the rest of the avengers movies aging very well. Joker is always going to be a "good movie."

The show was a bumpy transition. When they made the "transition" as you put it, they should have had him go full joker on the show. Deniro had ZERO to offer there. Phoenix voice also changed there a little; it should have taken a turn to sounding more tough and confident, not more ***.

You might be on to something. I'm almost 40

Well, what did we not get?
It would get spoilery. The generation tgat stayed our in the driveway laughing about "The cable guy" is just going to feel this movie more. Watching/consuming the movies of the last 10 years just wouldn't equip you to appreciate the little things, and big things, in this movie.

it is pretty interesting seeing whether fans want to picture the joker coming from a marginalized, bullied place or whether they want him to come from a deliberate, confident, insane-mastermind place

either way he was supposed to be a blue collar stick-up guy who fell in a vat of acid so none of this is canon to comic book lords
That's not canon either.
