I was a bit amazed at all the dancing Joker did in the movie.

One of my favorite scenes is when those cops are pursuing him and they are getting beat down by his rioter minions and he taunts them by dancing before he runs away.
What he was doing when they first saw him made it really funny.

Most powerful moment in the movie for me
the choreography with the camera work and music had me enthralled. The cinematography was stunning throughout the movie.

Saw the film at my local cinema, really liked it. Glad it's doing well at the box office, it helps bring variety to the comic book film genre like Logan did.

I personally loved it and it is in my top 3 favorite films of all time.

That scene wasn't even in the original script.

Phoenix just started dancing and it looked so good they kept it in.

My reaction when the midget couldn't get out the chain locked door:

'What, midgets can't jump?'

This movie gave us so many great quotes

After he kills Randall with the scissors. The midget cowering in the corner, and he asks him if he watches the Murray Franklin show, then says "it's fucking crazy ain't it? Me on the telly?"

C'mon, dark scene but people must've laughed at that in your theatre? Anyone? Anyone?

Or..."knock, knock?" Murray Franklin responds with "who's there?". Joker "It's the police ma'am, your son has been hit by a drunk driver, he's dead!" Everyone in the studio gasping as Joker laughs at his own joke

Great scenes.
I wouldn't be surprised if phoenix improvised the cockney accent and that joke to Gary.

The second is a Jimmy Carr type joke.
Crazy punchline. Fit in beautifully at the exact moment.

Fascinating film. When they first announced a stand-alone Joker film starring Joachim Phoenix, I dismissed it out of hand. I've never been so wrong about a movie.

As far as dramatic tension, the scene where
he walks into the neighbors apartment after learning about his true heritage, lightly touching the little girls artwork
was in a league of its own.

It's not Joachim, it's Joaquin.

How so? He's one of the best 3 actors working in Hollywood today and has played darker characters before...

Just got back from this 10/10. IMO this is a masterpiece. The camera work, the soundtrack the acting everything is spectacular. I like the fact that a few things are left ambiguous
like was his mother telling the truth or not, the photo showed that Wayne certainly wasn’t being honest

I think this is worthy of a ocscar. If it wasn’t about joker it probably would be getting more praise in the media. All the people I went with had the same reaction after, a nervous laughter followed by ‘wow that was strong’ I hope they leave this 100% as a stand alone and don’t try and intergrate any aspect into any other DC movies

So a common theme ive seen people talk about on facebook is, did he or didnt he kill the girl? Im pretty sure he did but what do you guys think?

No, not at all

Yeah there were a few laugh at my screening. That scene was amazing for its brutality and the fact that it brought laughs

No doubt, but I never pictured him making the role something that I, a longtime comic book fans, would appreciate. I was very shortsighted about it. Plus, great actors don't necessarily make great roles. This movie could easily have been a gigantic misfire.

I also wasn't a fan of the idea of splintering off of the established DC movie universe. The movies we'd gotten so far had been inconsistent in quality, to put it generously, and I thought they'd be smarter to try to shore up what they already had rather than divide their efforts. I'm glad they went ahead and rolled the dice on Joker, though. Hopefully other studios will be more agreeable to taking risks in the future.

Id say some of yas are going into the overrated spectrum and thats coming from someone who really liked this.

I would not recommend it to anyone trying to give up smoking. Fucker has a cigarette in his had the whole thing. One scene he is woken up by a phone call yet magically has a cigarette half smoked in the close up

What you have never woken up with a cig in your hand?

I wish his girlfriend wasn’t imaginary, and she wasn’t in the original script. I really like the idea of Joker sympathizing with her getting fired from her piece of shit boss. The movie had so much potential but I felt like they drop the ball changing the script.

Just saw it and my overall feeling is Phoenix is much bigger than the film. He was brilliant but the story itself was OK. I did find myself laughing at inappropriate times as well.

Agreed, the film was okay but Phoenix was great.

That's my take also. The movie was decent, but I wouldn't say it was great, only because I tend to reserve "great" for just a few movies. I expected more drama and action building up the Joker character.

People seem to be saying it was a great movie based on how superb Phoenix was.
