Irrelevant? It was a central plot in one of the most revered graphic novels of all time. It also leads into the Red Hood story line which has quasi been addressed in the current DCEU. Doing the Joker Origin story could lead into amazing future story lines.

Casting different actors constantly in the same role kills the consistency of the product, and this compounds DC's "establishment problems." They have absolutely no clue how to establish characters.

Can you imagine if there was a different Iron Man in the trilogy than the one in the AVENGERS films, and then another actor playing Iron Man in a rebooted origin story?

Yeah, I liked how they handled it in film. And D Jay never felt like a colonel to me; his voice is too pimptastic. Don seemed like a better fit.

I have faith in Joaquin, but having said that, I also had faith in Jared Leto, and his joker was a huge let down. Hopefully the script is solid.

First I thought I heard of a Harley Quinn solo film and I remember hearing of a Birds of Prey, Black Cat and Silver Sable combo mix movie. Scorsese and DiCaprio rumored to be doing a Joker film...rumored. Now a Joker film with Joaquin Phoenix? To me it seems DC doesn’t have their shit together, in Suicide Squad they cut out like an hour of Leto’s Joker.

This is what I would do. Leto as The Joker, Margo Robbie as Harley and have like a Natural Born Killers vibe. The scene in Suicide Squad where Common comments on Jokers bitch, then he gets blasted. A whole movie with crazy killings plus possibly an origin of how they hooked up and manipulated Dr. Quinn’s mind.

A joker origin story with Scorsese bringing in that OG feel. Possibly even a Bruce Wayne still timid... or still working on whether he will rock up to be Batman.

If scorsese really has something to do with this, I will check it out. He can do no wrong and a crime type movie like this is right up his alley. Dont really care for pheonix tho but he could surprise like ledger.
