If gsp had the confidence to just lean into that 100% and not worry about positioning, he would have gotten it. Let go right as he was thinking about tapping convincingly![]()

It only matters in each individual round. That's the scoring systemBut damage has always been the #1 criteria sir.
NoDana was very pissed GSP won.
Exactly.. Hendricks was NOT some major draw.. Dana was mad GSP was leaving and the PPV buys were going with him..Not until GSP announced retirement.
Watching one of the UFC behind the scenes specials on that fight, had Hendricks hired actual cornerman and NOT cheerleaders he might NOT take his foot off the gas in round 5.. They acted like he was so far ahead after each round when GSP clearly won round 3 with round 1 being close..Honestly gave to Hendricks at the time. Thought everything he did was more effective. He gassed out and lost the last 2 rounds, but thought he won 1-3. That said "you have to beat the champ to be the champ", so a close round like round 1 you could swing to GSP because of his dominance. Kind of like how Jones gets decisions, you don't score a close fight against one of the goats.
Would not be surprised if he had to sell it. The insurance and gas would be more than he can afford doing whatever it is he's doing right now.To this day I think about that truck. I have lots of questions. What is the mpg? What did he use it for? Does it still run?

Actually, didn't he become a cop or something?
GSP isn't dumb. After he got that home cooking, he took his ball with him and went home. He also waited until Silva wasn't champ and for the weakest MW champ ever in bIspong to come up to MW. Then took his ball home with him again.Hendricks/GSP is an all time robbery. Johnny got fucked… it was like Shogun/Machida, but Mchida had the balls to actually give Shogun the rematch. GSP quit.
No, but they werent 10-8 rounds, and he clearly lost 2 rounds with 1 round being a toss up. So the damage he did in those 2 rounds meant nothing more than winning the roundIts not like Johnny only did damage in 2 rounds sir.

GSP was one of the smartest, gameplay driven fighters of all time. Also didn’t hurt that he was incredibly talented and dedicated, as well. Still lost that fight to Johny in my eyes, though.GSP isn't dumb. After he got that home cooking, he took his ball with him and went home. From Test Responder to First Responder.Johny fizzled out shortly after this fight. He was amazing at his peak, but that peak was fairly short.
GSP defended his WW title 9 times, Hendricks lost the belt after 1 defense and got demolished at MW. Nobody remember him except sherdog. GSP Goat.

I think there is indeed that blind bias toward the underdog, but also Gus and Hendricks dominated their rounds more clearly thus clearly won if looking at the overall fight instead of round by round. For both these fights, I though the champs were going to lose. After re-watching, I revised my position. BTW that elbow from Jones was probably the most important strike in the history of MMA. Gus had Jones in trouble and was on the way to a total domination until that perfectly placed spinning elbow. Jones wouldn't have that god-like status if that elbow had missed.
