John Kerry: Isreal Risks Becoming An Apartheid State

It still amazes me how a hyper-power can be so politically in thrall to such a small demographic. I just don't understand it. The Dems and Repubs can't agree on what color the sky is but when it comes to to isreal they are tripping over each other for a chance to suck that countries dick.

(Disclaimer: Not a jew-hater or anything like that)

Again, question Israel and risk backlash. I am surprised he hasnt got hit with the anti Semite title yet. He is right, Israel's policies are very apartheid like.

Do you see why its more than a conspiracy theory to state that the most powerful people in the world who run shit are jews? Why is that so hard to believe? It goes far and beyond any lobbying. This is straight NWO shit.

Lmao...this is actually a humorous, yet accurate observation.
It always puzzled me why that was so...
There are very few outspoken voices of Israel....and all of them are considered "kooks", "racists", or fringe elements.

Pat Buchanan for example...

this relationship we have with Israel is un-American.

It risks becoming what it is? Excellent observation Lieutenant John.

Conservatives are outraged by this....yet most jews would never vote for them. I never understood how they are so loyal to Israel and Jews never voting for them

Both sides are extremely loyal to Israel. Politically that is. As far as people it's a mixed bag I'm sure.

Some evangelicals on the conservative right also are taught to love Israel and support it like it is gods chosen country. The mega churches say so.

So it doesn't matter what happens they will keep supporting.

Canada has the same sort of relationship. Even politicians who haven't run for office yet declare their loyalty to Israel. It's like a prerequisite.

I don't see what we are getting from the deal.

Arabs (and other minorities in Israel) have a equal rights to Israeli Jews. They have voting rights, political parties and the ability to serve in the government. They can take their grievances to the Supreme Court, in which there have been Arab Justices/Cabinet members etc. They receive welfare/healthcare. They can study/teach in the universities as Israeli Jews. There are affirmative action laws and they can run their own businesses. They have equal rights to lease government land, and so on. The difference is they are forced to serve in the military. Israel isn't perfect; however, to compare the actions of the state of Israel to Apartheid South Africa is just insane.

first off the citizens don't have equal rights, immigration rights are the most obvious.

secondly what about the palestinians living in the west bank? israel is stealing the rest of the land without giving them all these rights you are talking about. which is in FACT apartheid!

I think a more accurate way to put it would be to say that Israel is on the verge of becoming a pariah state, just as South Africa became a pariah state prior to the dismantling of apartheid.

Apartheid is such a peculiar and distinct phenomenon that I think it does a disservice to analogize Israel's systemic discrimination to apartheid ... it's kind of like how everything becomes genocide or slavery as a vague general level, which trivializes historical genocide and slavery.

Why don't you ask Obama and/or Kerry that?

Has John Kerry always been this much of a pussy? His statement wasn't anti semitic nor did it come off as "not supporting israel." His statement reflects a likely outcome of the ongoing strife between Israel and the Palestinans ..
Too much of a chicken shit to stand by his words.

The thing is, it is worded PERFECTLY.

Right now, Israel is occupying Palestine after a war because no peace has been brokered. But if it never ends, and Israel occupies this land forever, it DOES become apartheid, because they will be the owners of that land.

LOL I don't plan on defending Israel too much in this thread, but this doesn't make sense. Immigrants aren't citizens!

i'm referrring to a citizens marrying a non israeli non jew. and overall immigration laws.

not a big deal because it was a dem who said it and he said it about israel, so no problem. move along. Donald sterling is racist!

Really? I didn't realize black people were a country taking political action, which is what Kerry was criticizing. Criticism of Israel =/= anti-Semitism. This is one of the most aggravating false equivalencies that neo-cons make all the time.

For non-Jews living in territory Israel controls this is perhaps true. But what about the Palestinians who are nominally living in Israel when in fact they function as their own state (or two states if you count Gaza and the West Bank separately)? They suffer from lack of many basic human rights. They can't move around freely, leave freely, and they have essentially no property rights as evidenced by the fact that the Israelis keep bulldozing their houses to erect settlements. That looks a lot like apartheid to me.
