John Danaher: “Khabib thicker, bigger, and heavier than GSP throughout career”.

As per usual people think there eyes are more accurate than scales. Not saying he's bigger than GSP on fight night but people thought Ngannou was like 280 on fight night vs Gane but he only gained 3lbs after the weigh ins. You can't just look at somebody and tell how much they weigh.

it still doesn’t change the fact that he comes across as very pretentious

Do you have a quote that sounds pretentious?

Or are you just giving an opinion on the way his voice sounds?

You can't just judge a book by its cover.

Khabib being a size bully is a complete myth made by his haters.

Dustin Poirier and Drew Dober would come into the octagon heavier.

There is list somewhere floating around that has the top 15 LW fight night weights.

I would say Islam is one of the heaviest as well. He looks huge in there

Edit here it is

No Frankie there but I think both BJ and (obviously) Frankie can fight at Bantamweight in 2022,

Marlon Vera looked bigger than Frankie at BW

It’s from watching various interviews. I get it the guy is one of the best coaches in jiujitsu right now but it doesn’t change how he comes across and how the people around him seem to enforce it.

anyway I think at the end of the day it is not a big complaint. People have personality flaws.

My real issue is how martial arts can be very cult-like and we see this in various forms across various cultures. From things like yellow bamboo and no-touch martial arts which are the fascinating extremities of the human psyche. To the bastardisation of karate Kung fu and Taekwondo as it was brought to the west, a cult that was only killed by the ufc as we are all aware here.

Then you have new masters in China with questionable lineage claiming that they are the descendants of various schools like Shaolin even though many of these temples and schools were eradicated in the cultural revolution. Then you have jiujitsu guys like @krelianx who took what happened at the first few ufc events far too literally and are under the impression that jiujitsu is geniuinely the superior individual martial arts for self defence, an idea that is absolutely laughable.

so yea, my real gripe/fascination is with the cult, not so much with the guy who probably has a few yes men around him.

the cultboys come out of the woodworks. My problem is more how he says things than what he says. And, more importantly, he is no more brilliant than the multitude of other amazing martial arts coaches but his fanboys act like he is on par with Einstein just because he has a doctorates.

You are predicating your belief that he is smart based on his mannerism and meekness more so than what he actually says.
He helped changed the landscape of BJJ with leg locks. He was a game changer, that's the difference. Others can be great at teaching, but are they innovating? That's the difference people don't acknowledge. Eddie Bravo was the same - they innovated and changed the game.

yeah no. you're obviously not a photographer and are easily fooled.

You're right, I'm not a photographer. Can you teach me how you know there's a difference?

The letters in the background look the same in height to me.

don’t you think that various people who are actually responsible for these innovations should get some credit too? Not just the guy who brought them over to jiujitsu?

the Luta livre guys, catch wrestlers, japanese jujutsu practitioners and others that either came up with these systems or helped pass them down in a continuous lineage.

I got leglocked by my friend who did traditional Japanese jujutsu. He wasn’t great in other positions but when we hit 50/50 he caught me in a leg lock that I have not seen to this day again.

there is so much history in martial arts to learn from and it’s all there for you to access. Hundreds of years of trial and error, you just have to know how to sift through all the bullshit. Danaher isn’t the only one who knows how to do this. He is also good at reorganising it into a system that is relevant to Brazilian jiujitsu today. He does deserve credit there too.

He just so happen to be one of the few to be open minded amongst his peers who are all still part of that bjj cult mentality of ‘we are the cutting edge of martial arts.’ Walking around the dojo like they are in Silicon Valley. Now those same leeches have attached themselves onto Danaher and are completely oblivious to the historical context of what he is actually doing.

Khabib was a weight bully who ducked welterweight. Just look at the killers he would have to face -- Colby, Burns, Khamzat, Usman would all beat the snot out of Khabib.

Compare to Conor, who was more dominant in his own division (FW) than Khabib ever was, then moved up not only one but TWO weight divisions, became the champ and always challenged himself against the best of the best.

Would Khabib do a wrestling match against the best wrestler in the world? No, because he is scared that being dominated will tarnish his legacy. Conor gave us the Floyd fight, because he cares about entertaining us and he cares about challenging himself.
GTFO with the Conor in his own division rubbish, Conor is a natural LW and cut himself stupid to get FW....oh and just didnt with cut for WW.
If Conor was legit , why didnt he take up Usmans title shot offer? No thats right, we are still hearing crickets in response

Khabib is a natural WW and cut himself stupid to get LW. He actually got hospitalized for too brutal of a weight cut and has a history of missing weights, something Conor never struggled with.

I've been saying this for years and Khabib dick riders always covered for him. Saying hes "not that big of a LW" hes a massive LW.

no hes not, hes the right size for LW, its just dumbarse Conor load garglers who want to make out that their boy wasnt a weight bully at FW and that he was ' moving up' ( reality moving to his natural weight class) and fighting the bigger( IE his size) guys. There was 2lb difference between Khabib and Conor on fight night..
Dont kid yourself that Conor does it easily , he has made comments in the past about the difficulty in weight cutting, why do you think he fought Cerone at WW? because he CBF weight cutting to LW.
A LW trying not to cut LW by fighting at WW weight brackets but still wanting it to count as LW..LOLOLOL He was going to try it again at his next fight until Dana put a stop to that .
Conor will never ever be fighting at FW again..

and everyone has either ignored you or countered you because you are talking out of your arse. Tony and Kevin Lee are massive LW...but strangely you dont mention them...#ClosetKhabibhater

Danaher is totally full of shit, he enjoys making up stuff to make GSP look good. He's a cool guy, but GSP is his boy and he'll say and invent absolutely anything to make him look good (not that he needs much help).

It's been obvious (his being heavier) for years. He belonged at 170.

Khabib ran from his biggest challenges
<WhatItIs>
I mean he refused to fight a near 40 year old GSP at anything but 155. That was not Father’s plan. It’s not a big deal, but is a minor black eye imo.
