Man, maybe that's just me but it sounds kinda harsh.
In Russia he'd probably get fined, and that's it. No criminal record, nothing. I mean it was a fair fight, what's the big deal. Nobody died, Joe didn't try to finish the guy off with gnp/soccer kicks etc.
I remember Rasul Mirzaev knocking out a dude on a street like 10 years ago; dude hit his head on pavement and died. Rasul did 2 years, IIRC, and that's fair - you kill somebody, you go to jail.
It was not a fight at all. U had a guy upset at being shoved out of the way and who was doing what Marc mcyoung calls the monkey dance posturing while the other guy turns around and physically assaults him. It was a violent attack and evidence of how mma and martial sports is turning the young men of America into savages etc etc and that's only what the prosecutor is going to say.
As a matter of fact as I have mentioned earlier in this thread even simple assault van brign a max 6 month jail sentence. Whereas killing someone unintentionally in a fight is voluntary manslaughter and is a serious felony bringing max of 15 years jail. If the victim died and schilling had caused the video to be recorded in anticipation of the violence he would uncork it would be a premeditated assault and it may even be murder.
