Joe Schilling sucker punching drunk guy

The defense sounds pretty great(hilarious), but it sounds to me like there was some obvious paying off of the judge. Allegedly, in my fictional book I'm writing about it of course.

my take on this wohle Joe Schilling saga is :
he was LOOKING to slug someone, anyone, and the drunk dude just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Whilst i'm sure the drunk guy was annoying and probably said something dumb, he DO NOT as a pro fighter KO every drunk guy you meet in a bar.
Joe Schilling is, therefore, a piece of sh1t in my book. I hoped he'd have had to pay the guy. it's not illegal to be drunk in a bar or to make some stupid remark.
Schilling just wanted to bust someone's ass that day. He's a PUNK.
That dude goes around town getting hammered and acting a fool multiple times a week for the last 10-15yrs . Guy is a nuisance just a long time rich kid who gets tossed out everywhere he goes. Joe did what needed to happen to sort the universe out. The camera was only on for few seconds not sure how you can read in between the lines so well. Can assure you Joe is a better human. Talking out your ass only gets you so far. Sometimes life comes at you full circle in the form of a trained fighter to dish out a little humble pie. God bless Joey !!!

ok I agree that there may well have been some more interaction before the video was recording. In fact the mere fact that SOMEONE was recording it.... tells us something. so..... I would guess that there was some preceding dialogue / interaction between Schilling and that guy, that was not captured on video. I am simply basing my comments on what I see from that short video clip which is all we have to go on. From THAT video clip I see no reason to slug the guy. But like i said, there might have been preceding bad words / threats or whatever between them.

Cool that someone actually posted how this all shook out, I remember reading about this and watching the video and having mixed feelings. Anyway hopefully everyone involved learned something and can move forward knowing that there’s better options out there, especially when intoxicated and in a bar dealing with total strangers ffs.

I thought Shilling went a little out of his way from watching the mini clip then as the story started taking off I read the name and eventually asked few friends to confirm it's the dude I thought it was. Suddenly it all made sense. I've seen the dude a handful of times and every time he was belligerently drunk and likely on nose sugar. Not many give off that feeling where you gotta fight this guy but this dude definitely does. Scooped friends/acquaintances up from his parents large estate as well in the ranches.

Joe Schilling has been granted immunity from civil lawsuit filed by Justin Balboa, the man he knocked out in a Florida restaurant.
In an April 19 filing, Broward County (Fla.) circuit court judge Fabienne E. Fahnestock found Schilling was justified in striking Balboa under the state’s Stand Your Ground law because he “reasonably believed” Balboa “posed a threat of great bodily harm to himself.”
“The court further finds that Schilling used only such force necessary to neutralize the threat, and is therefore entitled to immunity, “ Fahnestock wrote in the court order.

Balboa, the judge wrote, approached Schilling and a companion’s table, and the companion testified she heard him say “something about fighting” to Schilling. After a “brief” exchange, Schilling asked Balboa to leave the table.
During the interaction caught on tape, Fahnestock found Balboa’s “feinting gesture towards Schilling” made the professional fighter – who testified he was trained to anticipate and respond to punches – believe he was about to be punched.
“Once he believed the threat was neutralized, Schilling returned to his table, paid the bill, and left the restaurant,” Fahnestock wrote.

HTH
Thank You for the update.

No, schilling walked past balboa, balboa yelled, "Hey," to get schilling's attention. Schilling turned around to see what the balboa wanted. Then balboa steps toward schilling with his left foot and then physically gestures as if he's going to punch schilling with his right hand, and schilling responds with a right hand and then a left hand.

Just ignoring the shove eh??

God bless mma fans

Other guy should have walked out to his lifted truck and got his gun, came back and shot him. That is the usual case for "stand your ground" in Florida. Cowards and losers shooting people.
Like the cowards and loser homeowners protecting their family from all of those poor, marginalized, misunderstood armed robbers?
<YeahOKJen>

Schilling was a POS before this and still is.

sure guy was a super douche, doesn’t mean you get to assault a guy you know damn well you will hospitalize.

but Schlling is 4-6 in MMA as a “high level striker” who just gets KOd by journeymen he needed this W

Actually more likd Zummerman and the recent KC incident.

You're allowed to defend yourself against an armed intruder anywhere in the US dude.

I love the cheeto fingered tough guys in the chat. You can clearly identify the softies here, who feel the need to act tough just to prove to themselves they aren't pussies

9/10 times its accurate, Dudes like that pete guy are the first to cry and run to their lawyer when something like this happens to them lol

Damn, surprised at the outcome. If Joe is such a highly trained fighter, why didn't he just circle back and away from the guy?

Did he never learn movement in the ring?

Not a Schilling fan but I have no problem with the decision. The second that dude feinted I lost all sympathy for him. By all accounts he’s had it coming for a while. Schilling could have handled it better but it is what it is.

It’s rare someone acting like a jackass and picking fights gets laid out. It’s even more rare when they can’t play the victim afterwards.

just ignoring the plaintiff backing up in to schilling's personal space without looking, EH?

God bless the wnba fans

"Backing up into" implies accidental too...throw in massive size adcantage anx pro status....
