Joe Rogan isnt sold on the Bing Bang theory finds Jesus resurrection more plausible

I don’t think Rogan believes in the resurrection

I tend to agree with him that the Big Bang theory sounds just as ridiculous if not more…and there is no less “faith” connected to that theory once you ask somebody to expand on it. Just like the resurrection

Depends on whom you ask. "We're all very Christian and very rich and very racist and very against women's rights and all very, very Christian" would describe a segment of the population's inner thoughts. And a much larger segment if you remove "and very rich" from that.
 
Where will have all the energy gone when the last black hole decays into a state without mass? What is the difference between that final stage of the universe and what existed "before" it? If something can become nothing why can't nothing become something? Philosophical and not testable science but at least it attempts to push the limits of our cause and effect based intelligence. Saying god did it is is just giving up trying to understand creation by kicking the can down the road.
 
I've gotten to the point now that I can't believe in 2025 that religion is still in existence or the very least the majority view is the world. My "expertise" is Christianity, Judaism, and a lesser extent Islam but it still falls in the same Abrahamic boat. How in the world is there positive evidence for these things? Take the book of authority out of the picture and what evidence is there? New converts in this day and age is perplexing.

What I don't understand is how he or you can think there's a conflict between the resurrection of Jesus and the Big bang....

Why did he even have to choose? They're not even competing ideologies.

I've heard several of his arguments and read one is his books. I'm not convinced. Most of his reasoning comes from assertions that the answer has to be God because of gaps or some other personal intuition. In a talk with Dawkins he even mentions personal feelings about justice and positivity. That's not good seasoning.

You said you couldn't understand it. I don't care if it convinces you or not. Dawkins came off pretty terrible in those debates though and was caught lying directly.

Lennox is a very sophisticated scholar and you were wrong to say he uses the god of the gaps argument. It sounds like you didn't really listen .So you've got it wrong. Maybe you should listen again.
 
He could literally call NDT and have the Big Bang Theory explained in detail to him by a leading astrophysicist. In fact, he HAS done that. He has also had guests who Historically believe the man we know as Jesus existed, but who could dispel the resurrection myth as non-viable.

Hes just probably turning into a Christian right winger like most dudes like him do as they age. Death starts to scare them, they're not fully secure in themselves, and they feel the need to appeal and surrender to a mythology to comfort them. Nothing specifically wrong with it, and if this is the case Brogan's newfound Christian tendencies arent proof of anything at all. But for what it's worth Christopher Hitchens faced the unknown, and the uncertainty of age, illness, and death very publicly and with a ton of grace while not feeling the need to "Christ is Lord" all over the place.

First of all Trump had nothing to do with this, so leave your TDS at the door.

Secondly, Joe is just a regular guy with average intelligence. He's dumb enough to get a lot of things wrong, but smart enough to reflect and change his opinions. Just because Joe says something doesn't mean we should all attack him. I'm sure you have views that if nationally exposed would make you look stupid.

Joe didn't sell out, he's just not that smart. He generally does get things right though.

The big bang theory is just a theory, we have no idea if it's correct. We just theorize that all matter had a starting point because of the expanding universe but we really don't know.

Joe is also into simulation theory which is probably why he said this

It's not that video. I just posted the first couple I saw. If you want to see him debate Dawkins you can do that, but his understanding is quite sophisticated. I don't think it's really meant to convince anyone who doesn't want to be convinced though.

The main point is that it is absolutely rational to believe in God.

There is a strong strain of 'anti-science' thinking in the US- often, but by no means solely, perpetuated on religious grounds

If he *rejects* 'Big Bang' (you could just as easily say 'vaccines' or 'global warming') whilst juxtaposing it with a religious trope that he finds more convincing (or at least he says he does), it seems to me he is pretty clearly showing his ass to a particular demographic.

Sooner or later it will go from 'Big Bang doesn't convince me' to 'well,m how can you trust science at all, I mean, if you can't trust the Big Bang theory, how can you trust anything scientists say?'

it seems pretty obviously transparent to me.

Plus, lets face it, intellectual rigour isn't at all his strong suit, spiritualist thinking in general is well-suited to him as it gives him the chance to base his opinions on The Feels, bro.

This is a misuse of the word faith. It's really atheists that used the trick of language to pretend that Faith meant believing something without evidence when it has never meant that.
Fate has never stood without evidence. It has always been faith and reason within the Christian tradition.

But why believe something if you need faith to justify it? Another part of my argument which I might not have highlighted is that if all religions have truth claims why does Christianity rise to the top and what makes Buddhism not a viable?

strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
