Watching the fight, two things were apparent about Weili:
1. She’s used to being the one taking her opponent down, and being on top. It kind of showed in the first round of the Suarez fight as well, but then Weili was able to impose herself after that. Seriously, what was she doing in camp? She looked completely unprepared to be taken down by a judoka, and clueless what to do on her back.
2. She’s hasn’t faced an elite counter striker ina long time, either. Seriously, what was her team doing this entire camp?
I was frustrated watching Fatima Kline. In those clinch exchanges, Joanna woulda been FEEDING her opponent elbows to mouth and eye socket
She probably could have finished Hill, but didn’t start pouring it on until the last twenty second. Good win, but it;s not like Hill was coming off a long win streak, and Kline wasn;t in a hurry at all
how?
Manon is the best fighter there, she is a patently better fighter than Weili. It's not wild at all.
Weightclasses exist for a reason. Weili was just a slightly more game andrade. Manon is the most physically gifted of those fighters, hence why she did the best.
Rubbish. How many UFC caliber fighters has Manon finished? One. Jasudavicius. Leonardo was never UFC caliber, and the Ricci fight was a bad joke. Weili won a title off a finish twice, and has finished former champions. Submissions, punches, elbows, knees. Weili is for more complete a fighter than Manon.
Fiorot is a one dimensional striker who relies entirely on her physical attributes, and is boring. Hell, I’d argue she’s more boring than Valentina, because at least Valentina is boring in multiple fields.
It’s wild because all of those women were so underestimated when they came in to fight Valentina. No one was giving Santos or Grasso a chancewhereas people were generally picking Zhang to win. What I’m trying to emphasize that this completely went against our prior expectations before the fight. MMA is truly an unpredictable sport
Some were picking Zhang, but she was still the betting underdog going in, and the overall underdog as well, since she was moving up.
I still think JJ retired early. She could've added depth.
Now might be a good time for Val to call it.
That was the biggest legacy name she could've fought.
I think she retired at the right time. Two massive KOs in a couple of years, plus sustained damage in the first Zhang fight.
I've speaking this for a long time: this is the best Valentina'version ever
Sadly, it’s also the most risk averse version ever.
Zhang did better than Joanna by knocking her out cold so...
You just ignored the entire discussion of styles make fights, and the discussion was about facing Shevchenko. Congrats on acting dumb, I guess
