Jiu Jitsu helps the smaller man lolol

Hey bro.. do some BJJ... eat the açai bro

images
are you aware jan is better in jiu jitsu than izzy?
if it helps the smaller man, imagine how it can help the bigger one

which makes the gap even bigger but doesn't change the point, the bigger guy with better bjj won, that shouldn't discredit bjj lol
Jan layed and prayed ... basically mma grappling .. you do know he trains basically MMA

These kind of threads should not exist in 2021 , go train jiu jitsu and try it on one of your bigger friends , tell him to use any kind of punching that he wants , see how long he lasts ( when you get above blue belt ).

no shit, mma fighters train a lot of mma and not only individual martial arts ??? who would've though
<TheWire1>
and factually, jan passed guard at least 2 times, once to side control and once to mount, he wasn't very active for sure, and didn't attemp any sub, because he was tired I believe, but he did improve his position 4 times at least, twice passing the guard and twice from guard to halfguard, a position which seems more interesting in mma than bjj because of the ability to strike and the fact you don't risk losing position if you don't try to improve it.
in my book thats better than lay & pray, which i define by nottryin to improve position at all, maybe you have your own definition that's different from mine <Neil01>

I’m just saying he used simple mma grappling /BJJ to defeat someone with a very poor ground game ... if he was some mundial champion that some have said he is in this post he would have subbed Izzy

well no need to bash him because of what other people said, he never said anything like that

and even that doesn't mean you'll win the grappling for sure, look at rodolfo viera, of course he got subbed because he was rocked and gassed, and is the better grappler, yet when he was on top trying to get the arm triangle he couldn't get it as his oponent defended it well (I tought it was going to be over at that point, but it wasn't :D) and that gave his oponent a chance to hurt him and "make him gas" if I can say,

You’re clueless lol

In all seriousness I would push you to at least try a few intro classes at a few bjj gyms. My friend was like you who ridiculed bjj out of jealousy / insecurity and once they actually tried it became believers. That stuff is extremely effective for self defense with as little as a year of training . You can focus your game on the self defense techniques you'll be taught (what you call "Gracie") and ignore the sport stuff . No ones holding a gun to your head forcing you to master the latter.

Funny thing is.... that was me 6 year ago. I would constantly bash bjj because in my mind that justified why I didn't get off my ass and go sign up. I wanted an excuse.

I trained for 8 years in the gi, six no gi at an mma gym. You wouldn’t believe the amount of sport Jiu jitsu guys I’ve seen who got their ass handed to them once gnp was allowed.

And yes, there is a difference between Gracie Jiu Jitsu and regular Jiu Jitsu. That’s why Gracie Jiu Jitsu is trademarked.

Im assuming GNP from a gym full of others who train both BJJ and striking right? Because you're original assertion that bjj is useless in a self defense situation against completely untrained guys right ?

If I were to put on my gi right now and walk into an MMA gym then chances are ill get my ass kicked . Would I say the same if I walked into a bar and got it on with a drunk dude throwing Haymakers?? I may or may not , but ill tell you I know 100% my chances increase exponentially once the fight hits the ground due to me putting in 6+ years and thousands of hours of mat time . Just feels like common sense man, this shouldn't even be a controversial statement but here you are asserting just that which is odd to me
