Jiri Prochazka vs Glover Teixeira re-match

Think this thread is senseless. Glover earned his rematch, It was a great fight and he was beating Jiri till the last 30 seconds of the fight. If someone deserves a rematch, It is Glover.
Sonnen was beating Anderson for pillar to post on a fight that wasn’t even competitive up until the finish in the fifth round… He still had to earn a shot at a rematch by beating Stann and Bisping…

Cause Anderson hated the guy and did not want the rematch. Sonnen clearly deserved also.

He earned it? He was finished in his first title defense.....Ankalaev and Hill earned a shot at the title by raising up through the ranks by beating top guys.
I agree Ankalaev already deserves it, but It does not take away Glover's merits.

Unless the fight was a split decision there should never, ever, be an immediate rematch.

It was a great fight, but c'mon...if Glover wins an exciting fight, does Jiri get an immediate rematch?

If either Ankalaev or Blachowitz won via dominating fashion instead of an injury TKO (not their fault, just saying), then either one wouldd have a stronger case for the shitle tot. Alas, it was not to be.

This fight screws over guys who earned an opportunity to fight for the title. Jiri should be fighting: Magomed Ankalaev, Jamahal Hill, Jan, Aleksandar Rakić, all of these guys are more deserving than Glover getting this re-match.

How has Jan earned a title shot? Glover dominated Jan on the feet and then broke him incredibly quickly on the ground.

Jan then fought Rakic. Jan won Round 1 even though Rakic opened up a cut that made Jan bleed profusely. Rakic took Jan down in Round 2 and controlled him for 4m33s to win the round. In the first minute and change of Round 3, both fighters landed 5 strikes a piece before Rakic suffered a non-contact injury to his knee that ended the fight.

I'm kinda surprised the UFC are willing to make this fight.. I mean if Glover wins he couldn't be any more long in the tooth... he might freaking drop the belt right then and there

That's only because the commission suspended Chael due to his T levels being so high in the first fight. It had already been announced that he was getting an immediate rematch with Anderson, a lot of people don't remember that.

Your post proves my point. Grover should have to beat the next highest ranked guy to even be considered for a title shot.

Jan did not get an immediate rematch despite having at least 1 title defense. He then fought the highest ranked opponent available to earn a re-match. He won the fight, it was not his fault his opponent could not continue. Despite Jan's efforts, Ankalaev and Hill truly earned a title shot, Jan should be third on the list of title contenders - still, well before Glover.

So then any fight that is “fucking excellent and extremely close”, should have an auto rematch??

This is a fucking JOKE, and the hypocrisy in here is monumental.

I mean, it's not always necessary no. But I'm cool with it on this one because I enjoyed the first one so much, and Ankalaev/Jan is also a good fight I'd like to see. It's not an Usman/Masvidal situation in my book.

I also wouldn't have been mad at Ank or Jan getting the shot either, all are good fights. I guess if we're going off of pure merit obviously Ankalaev deserved the next shot.

Guess if I'm a hypocrite or some such for enjoying Glover/Jiri enough to want to see it again, so be it.

The way Jan lost the belt was very different from the way Glover lost it.

Glover was winning the fight through 4 rounds. Then he dropped Jiri with a punch in Round 5.

Jan was dominated by Glover to point of being broken in less than 2 rounds.
