Jiri Prochazka vs Glover Teixeira re-match

What a senseless rematch. I could understand a split decision or if Glover was a long reining champ, but this was a stoppage and Glover's first title defense.

This fight screws over guys who earned an opportunity to fight for the title. Jiri should be fighting: Magomed Ankalaev, Jamahal Hill, Jan, Aleksandar Rakić, all of these guys are more deserving than Glover getting this re-match.

Where is the logic / reasoning of this re-match?

I disagree. The first fight was an excellent fight, Glover was winning until the final 30 seconds, and Teixeira is over 40 years old and near the end of his career. Out of respect for a guy that has been in UFC for over 10 years, he deserves the rematch in my opinion. PLUS, the UFC is rematch happy anyhow, this deserves it as much as any of those other rematches. I will look forward to it.

It’s very simple..The Glover rematch sells cause it was a great fight, and Jiri is likely to win again perhaps in a more dominating way. They want the belt to stay on Jiri because he’s marketable, and they also want Adesanya to go up again and fight him for a 2nd belt if he gets past Pereira.

Jiri is a more beatable opponent for Adesanya than Jan or Ankalaev. Everyone will want to see that fight, it will be one of if not the biggest fight of 2023, so they’re putting the pieces in place now to let that happen, it starts with Jiri KOing and retiring Glover.

You could maybe make a case for Ankalaev but he's literally beating Glover's sloppy seconds right now, and not nearly as convincing as Glover's victories over the same opponents.

The reason is happening is because Jiri wants to prove a point by having a better second fight. He feels like his performance wasn't good enough. And Glover is down for it, of course.

The reason for the rematch is the devolution of MMA- there is little going on in the rest of LHW, so they don't have much of a choice. It's not like the days of old when there were actually a lot of good LHW's to choose from.

There are so many past LHW's that could beat either of these guys.

Ankalaev is on a 9 fight win streak. Hill is 11-1 and has two recent top 10 wins and just dominated the #6 guy. These guys are absolutely getting screwed over. Glover was finished in his first title defense, no way he deserves a re-match.

I have NEVER seen a champion less deserving of a title rematch get one ever. Not once ever. People bring up garbrandt but even that's not close to this.

I think Glover was 20 seconds away from winning a 4-1 decision, however I am just so tired of these constant title rematches in UFC, every other title fight is a rematch these days, its overkill at this point. I want some fresh matchups.

I love Glover, he is a legend and a gentleman, and like I said I think he was a few seconds from a 4-1 win, but I'm just more frustrated with the constant UFC title rematches all the time, its become on loop now.

He earned it? He was finished in his first title defense.....Ankalaev and Hill earned a shot at the title by raising up through the ranks by beating top guys.
