Media Jiri Prochazka - head movement training for Hill - footage reveal

You know he's literally a former champion in a few orgs, including the UFC, right?

He's lost to ONE guy in the UFC.

Kind of a dumb take, no offense.
its like he's pretending Jiri couldnt have beaten all the guys Poatan beat

already was a champion

already got another shot

well on his way to earning a third

suck that crow all the way down

CAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

- beat a 42 year old retiring fighter in an absolute WAR

- ... who was murdered by guys like Jones, Gus, Rumble

- gets KO'd in his first title match against Poatan

- gets KO'd in his second title match against Poatan

If beating Glover means you are a champion, lots of other guys did it already and before he was in his 40s. I like Jiri. I think he is a really fun an interesting guy in the sport. Certainly talented. His defense is atrocious and thats why he isn't champion caliber.

But he was the champion though. Only lost to the current champion

Would beat anybody the champion beat.

Champion caliber.

Now dont puke it up. Swallow that Crow WHOLE.

We've been around long enough to understand good timing.

There is no version of Conor that ever walked the earth that was the best lightweight. He got the shit beaten out of him by Nate Diaz FFS. But he could beat Eddie Alvarez, who himself got his title shot on back to back controversial decisions, on one night.

There is no version of Jiri that beats DC, Jones or a prime Gus. I doubt he could beat prime Rumble. But because of a confluence of events, Glover held UFC gold for a single fight in his 40's, shortly before retirement. Jiri could have a WAR with him and get a win.

It is what it is.

DC Jones or Prime Gus and Rumble arent around. Sorry to tell you, but time just moves on. The division keeps going. You have no respect for Jiri but that is YOUR PROBLEM, you still cannot say he isnt what he has already proven himself to be. If you dont respect this era of LHW's that is YOUR PROBLEM.

Time moves on without you.

I know but we are comparing him to his peers, and the reason he gets murdered twice by Poatan is he doesn't have the rounded skill set to compete with him like Jan did a single fight before. Jan was capable of taking him to a controversial decision, Jiri was on the mat asking what day it was.

That isn't because Jiri doesn't have the talent, its his approach.

You have no respect for Jiri

I'll repeat the same thing I said to you in this very thread - I like Jiri and he's a fun an interesting talent.

His terrible defense is what holds him back from reaching his potential. Bizarre to describe that as 'no respect' but go off.

Of course theres no respect, if the guy wins a belt and you refuse to acknowledge his status.

Also he can beat all the guys Poatan beat.

He does NOT have to be as good as DC, Jones, Rumble etc to be a championship level fighter, there were guys before them too, that he also could beat, that were champions.

I would in fact like to see him fight Jan.

I'd also bet a substantial amount of money even the current version of Izzy knocks him out 8/10 times. He would knock him out early too.

Izzy aint at LHW.

Jan is in his 40s now isnt he? We all know what you'd say when Jiri knocks his dick into the dirt.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but you have to accept that we're in an era where non-championship calibre fighters are becoming champion quite frequently (i.e. they actually are championship calibre at this time). Jiri isn't even a particularly egregious example of a non-championship calibre fighter becoming champion compared to DDP, Belal and O'Malley.

His defense is still bad overall.

Jiri goes into 50/50 exchanges in nearly every fight to boot.

He is a fun and unique talent, but he's not a champion level fighter because his defense is atrocious. He's taking brain damage from it for seemingly no reason.
Huh? How can you say he's not a champion level fighter when he literally won the belt?

Umm. But Glover didn't have the belt then. He might have been in his early 40's, but he was on a 6 fight win streak and was the champion when he fought Jiri. Jiri won. Taadaa. There's not a grey area here.

Glover's not the first 40+ year old champion in the UFC. Guys can still be very talented at that age, especially in the upper weights and Glover was definitely one of them.

He got the absolute shit beaten out of him by a 41 year old Glover. Murdered by Poatan twice.

We've seen him get dropped by 3-4 guys at this point, some of them as low down the skill tree as Dom Reyes.

"I get punched in the head repeatedly to try and land my punch" is not a good long term strategy, and that is why he is not champion caliber.

I think a lot of what you say makes some sense, but saying he's "not champion caliber" is factually incorrect. HE WAS LITERALLY THE CHAMPION.

He has fought for the championship multiple times, and that's the definition of "champion caliber".

(Not to mention he was champion in other orgs.)
