So talk to them?
When they’re threatening to shut you down if you don’t fire a guy? What ever legal case came of it would inevitably end up in the Supreme Court which is stacked on the wrong side of the equation for them.

This is a lazy excuse. This same SC has ruled against what you would consider Trump issues before. To consider them compromised just because the majority is not in your favor is lazy. Otherwise, there is no point in taking any case to any court, period. Right?

They have, but statistically they side with him, and this is such a hot button, emotional issue I wouldn’t want to take the risk either.

plus, think of the money they lose while they aren’t broadcasting as they fight this thing in court. The risk isn’t worth it

Ok, I'll just go this (non-politics) route then as a business; but hey, no one reads this shit anyways....

Let's say 'Kimmel' takes about $1 million per episode to get his shit-show on the air (probably low-ball estimate). Let's say he has roughly 100-200 people between writers, studio, stage, lighting bla bla.... Last numbers I seen says he reaches about 1.2-1.4 mil/night, god knows how many that number is when old people fall asleep with their tv tuned into ACTUAL cable tv lol.

So.... it costs roughly $1–2 million per episode (figure about $250 - 300 million per year) yet likely brings in only about $40–70 million annually in direct ad revenue, which is just a legit massive loss. ABC and network garbage like this stay around for legacy and prestige ; in a world where no one "really" gives a fuck about ya when you have instant-on-demand-play-with-balls-apps and media platforms 24/7 365....

Kimmel PROBABLY runs at a ~$200+ million annual operating loss -- purely on standalone revenue vs cost ... so that would mean ABC pays hundreds of millions a year for brand prestige and cross-promotion, and not the almighty $$$ profit -- why is this? Surely he's untouchable!

Anyways LOL - outside of that (pretty shitty) 1.3 million that "tune in" nightly, he goes and literally offends 1/2 of them in a highly divided / hot topic situation, and again -- fuck your politics, I could care less. The show already is operating at a massive loss, and maybe he thinks he's untouchable? I don't know... but pissing off what little waning support you even have, on a bloated, over-produced sack of shit (MSM writers, and entire staff to make his monologue for his $15/mil year "TALENT") isn't really the best route to go. Or, buisness-wise, maybe it is. Maybe he should go independent, stag, cool kid -- the left "need a joe rogan" -- they said so themselves!?!? WHY NOT NOW!?

I would have shit-canned the show a long time ago, but somewhere some dumbass exec still think people REALLY care about late night the way they used to? Help me out here, you're rallying for a guy that was already FCC regulated, on mainstream cable -- and has hundreds of staff that put this shit together, operate at a massive loss, and then piss off people during a hot topic/sensitive issue?

I mean sure, if you like operating at a loss year round and having to explain why your host constantly pisses off potential audience + sponsors, I guess stick with 'em and support the mainstream media show that was losing money hand over fist anyways?

Oh no, totally just a freedom of speech issue ONLY. It's not like Colbert was also losing literally $30-50 million/year on an $18mil/year salary either heh.

I'mm all for free speech man, but there's more to this than just "getting canceled" over politics -- you know someone at the top knows these numbers and also likely said "fuck it, not worth the hassle".

I don't know what your first language is, but in English that is calling for someone to be executed
I'm giving you the quote and not what the interpretation the X poster said.

Sorry that is hard for you to deal with.

Ah, c'mon dude. You've shown yourself to be a pretty knowledgeable guy on these boards. SCOTUS has ruled against Trump issues before. I remember MAGA dopes pissed off at Barrett especially, pretending she is "ungrateful" or something stupid like that. I appreciated her sticking to her guns. Yes, it's a conservative majority, but let's not pretend they are some slam dunk for any and every issue Trump's side brings to them.

Im by no means thinking it’s a slam dunk, it could be 60/40 or 45/55 but the conservative slant is there. It’s a broadcasting network, profits come first. I can’t imagine them taking the gamble on fighting it and winning, all while patiently waiting to broadcast again.

I'm going through 11 pages what did the Dumbass say?

What Jimmy Kimmel said about Charlie Kirk

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was, uh, grieving on Friday − the White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.

Yes, he's at the fourth stage of grief: construction. Demolition, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend; this is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK? And it didn't just happen once. "And then we installed the most beautiful chandelier. Responses you wouldn't believe." Who thinks like that, and why are we building a $200 million chandelier in the White House? Is it possible that he's doing it intentionally so he can be bad about that instead of the (Jeffrey) Epstein list?

Charlie Kirk called for Biden to be executed. I guess nobody should defend him, right?
olberman called for trump to be assassinated. kirk said biden should be executed for his crimes. huge difference. obviously that would happen after a trial, etc.

“the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them“

I mean, he’s technically correct here… at no point did maga paint him as a right winger. They sure did characterize him as a whole bunch of far left archetypes. Basically everything except maga.
