At the risk of sounding like a broken record, modern politics in the post-truth era is really a case of plebs insisting on behaving like completely dishonest windbag lawyers instead of citizens exercising judgment.

This case right here is like being a windbag lawyer, relentlessly defending your client with some mix of stretching the truth as possible to outright bullshitting in attempts to obfuscate and deny the extremely obvious.

But in this case, imagine being a lawyer where you worked so hard to lay out all your meticulous bullshit, but then your client demands he gets up there and your clients takes the stand, and then basically completely fucks up and shits all over the dishonest defense you had been presenting for weeks.

As a shitbag unpaid unemployed lawyer, you are left in a precarious position --- do you cut your losses and admit you are just playing this shitty role and that the person you were defending was in the wrong?, or do you shamelessly keep on pretending he's in the right?, or your third option, do you just run out of the courtroom and pretend nothing even happened?
