Social Jimmy Kimmel gets Canceled

Do you think 'The Jimmy Kimmel' show should have been cancelled?

Dude none of this matters. The fact is the FCC threatened the ABC which is a violation of the constitution. What sinclair and nexstar did does not change that.
Keep in mind I disagree with the FCC claims of “news distortion” here — there is an interesting argument to be made in all of this.

I think we can all agree people are generally morons.

How many people actually DO watch Kimmel and take what he says as truth which later informs their belief systems? I would say a lot — or I guess as many as actually tune into his shitty show.

Is there any responsibility for people who speak openly false information during highly contentious times to not do so? I would say it’s a very fine line. He’s a “comedian” I guess but this monologue wasn’t comedic. He has taken very non-comedic stances in the past which were also spreading misinformation.

Obviously a slippery slope as what is “true” isn’t always objective.

Just interesting overall.

I wasn't responding to you.
So?

You didn't have to reply to me at all if you prefer not to answer the question, and you could have sent your message to him as a PM if you didn't want anyone else to respond to it. In that light, this reply is doubly puzzling. No need to respond to this either if you prefer but it strikes me as odd nevertheless.

Peace.

What did Kimmel say that was "openly false" on this occasion, exactly?

Talking with my leftist friend in the UK. She thinks ABC dropping Jimmy is worse than police arresting people for Facebook posts.

LMAO
That depends a lot on the contents of the posts, don't you think?

Ok but I was confused why you need me to explain my obvious point. That person did not give a fuck about kimmel so he obviously didn't care he was cancelled, so my point is thats the best test for your principles, when you don't care about the person involved.

“That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC.“

Sure. He’s not trying to pressure anyone.

"That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT"

I'm glad at least I'm on the right side of history. I don't think I could live with myself if I had voted for this piece of shit. Imagine having to explain to your children and grandchildren that you voted to bring fascism down upon the United States. The orange stain will never wash off.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them…”

That depends a lot on the contents of the posts, don't you think?
No. Trying to paint this as “well people can’t make death threats online” isn’t going to work, Andy. That’s not what is happening. You know it. We all know it.

Moral responsibility maybe but all that matters here is legal responsibility and kimmel is not even a news show so that does not even apply. that rule specifically applies to news programming, not entertainment shows. The actions also have to be deliberate not a mistake. its all rubbish.

I would agree. However, like I said, it is a fine line in today’s world of low IQ morons.

The part about it applying only to news programming isn’t necessarily true. It has a nuanced context of content and type of media. It doesn’t only apply specifically to programs calling themselves “news”.

Of course, but it’s a different story when the federal government is directly involved in said firing.

Though it’s nice to see someone who has experience being fired for behavior several times before chiming in!

The government doesn’t have the right to deny you the platform you have for protected speech that doesn’t violate any terms of license. You are the boot licker.
You're not even making sense. The FCC isn't taking away your right to free speech if they revoke your license to use public airwaves. You don't have a right to use the public airwaves. The privilege to use public airwaves is granted to you by the FCC, and that privilege is granted on the condition that your programming serves the public interest. You know who the arbiter is on whether or not your content serves the public interest? You wanna take a guess?

You can make your little ought claims all you want, but your 'ought' will never be an 'is.'

Don’t worry the pearl clutching MAGA-Doggers in this thread will ignore that or wait for Libs of TikTok or CatTurd to spin it for them. Trump is so soft he is triggered by 4 broads on The Fucking View.

Irrelevant. The point is a private business still needs council permits to operate, it has no right to them. What if the government revokes them for selling a certain book, is that allowed? And last time i checked affiliates are private companies also anyway.

Ok. After you do.
Private bookstores don't provide television programming using public airwaves, dummy.

Answer a very basic and fundamental question, if you have the brainpower. Where does the right to use public airwaves come from, the constitution or the FCC? Think real hard about it, asswipe.
