He was never the same after that 2nd Cain fight. He took some big damage and that shortens your career as a fighter.

To be fair....in the past few years they have lost to the same guys. Overeem got near knocked out Harris as well.

Overeem looked "ok" vs mediocre guys who Junior might beat himself.

I would say directly post Cain it was more opponents knew his weaknesses and he wasnt quite as confident in himself but from the Reem lose onwards I think physical decline has clearly set in.

I wouldnt say he's a lock against anyone decent these days with that dodgy chin and a style that exposes it but those are I think winnable fights potentially.

Jnr really though I think always gave the impression of a guy who got by on natural talent for fighting a certain way, even just in terms of striking he was always quite narrow depenant on throwing those big looping shots from mid range.

Alistair always showed a more rounded game and its more the case he's shifted focus to different areas of it over the years. He's also never had beatdowns like the Cain matches, I suspect those fights probably inflicted more damage than half a dozen Reem KO loses.

Thats the danger of having great chin/heart I spose, it means you potentially expose yourself to massive damage if things go wrong, I suspect JDS now might well be better off physically if he'd been pulled out of the Cain matches after the 2rd/3rd round each time.

I think he probably broke his jaw after one of the many beatings he took,it’s crazy how he reacts after getting hit after having a steel chin

Not a chance. He was never a defensive fighter and he hasn't added much to his game besides some spinning kicks.

I love the dude, but his best days are well behind him.

I think he paid so much for not changing his style or adding to his game over the years unlike what alistair did,as soon as alistair figured his chin was weak,he worked so hard to change his style also he has grappling too unlike Junior

I'm not sure Reem ever did figure it out, he's been KOd 17 times between K1 and MMA.

Yeah besides the weakness against the cage his career has always been quite dependent on walking though opponents offence to land his own.

I hurts to say but he is now Bob Sapp. This is now the 4th fight or so where I saw him take a shot and he quits. He's never been out cold. He takes a shot now, goes into a turtle shell untill the ref stops it.

I can't blame him. It's easy money. He has taken all the brutal beatings in his career already, he is allowed to do this imo.
