Jacare is evolving into a killer!

Agreed, his striking still looks mediocre. But his takedowns are what has improved so much.

His takedowns have always been good, all the way back to his BJJ days. He never had even a bit of trouble taking down anyone until he ran into Rockhold, who is incredibly tough to hold down (he strangely never really tried to take Kennedy down).

That Anderson Silva guy got subbed by Takase and Chonan. Clearly he has no future in the sport.

lol I should have quoted the poster. He said he wanted to see him fight Mousasi so calm down smart ass. He even wrote Jacare vs. Rockhold 2 but didn't do so when he write Mousasi.

By an upkick by Mousasi that would have ended pretty much anyone's night...whats your point? He has a higher sealing than anyone else in the MW division not named Weidman right now. Jacare would decisively defeat Belcher, Belfort, Bisping, Stann, and Sonnen. He'd probably have his toughest fights against Lombard, Weidman, and Okami out of the top 10 IMO.

My point is that he said he wanted to watch Mousasi fight Jacare. I actually think he can easily be top 3. I'm a huge Jacare fan but go look at the fights he said he wanted to see. I'll remember to quote next time so 30 guys don't get defensive of his ability lol

I've seen Mousasi fight Jacare before, i just forgot to put a 2 on the end :(

iv been a fan of jacare since his robbie lawler win. the brunson ko was amazing, he showed power, accuracy and composure in that fight as well as delivering a nasty knockout. he is definitely evolving as a fighter and its going to be good seeing him fight for the ufc against some of the better guys in there and to see how he does.

also his double on herman was sweet, herman is a pretty solid wrestler and brazilians are never really known as massive takedown guys but he made it look easy the weekend. id like to see him and rockhold fight again soon.

Time and time again we see Kickboxers and boxers refuse to commit to learning BJJ and wrestling, and time and time again we see BJJ practioners and Judokas refuse to commit to learning how to strike with technique.

Demian Maia - A world beater in BJJ, yet shows very little improvement in his striking.

Roger Gracie - Another world beater, with 1% striking (a jab) and that's it.

Vinny - BJJ master again, improving his striking but makes a lot of mistakes.

Werdum - HW but still BJJ master, didn't improve his striking for a long time, but since his 2nd debut in the UFC he's showed a great improvement.

Palhares - Leg Lock specialist, terrible standup, nothing more to say.

Aoki - Submission magician, recently imroving his standup.

Kitaoka - A lesser version of Aoki, with 0% standup.

Jacare - BJJ monster like the others, yet each and every fight his striking looks better and better. Yes i know that this guy trains with Anderson but still that doesn't mean he was bound to end up improving, he has commited to learning striking to not only compliment his BJJ BUT he's trying to win fights with strikes.

Personally i feel sorry for whoever he gets matched up with, i just hope we get to see Jacare vs Weidman, Jacare vs Mousasi 2, Jacare vs Rockhold 2.

roger gracie knocked out randleman...

"HW but still BJJ master" ? What does being a heavyweight has to do with being a jiu jitsu master?

I think you vastly underestimate how much of being a good striker is natural talent. I have no doubt Maia has trained his striking very hard. He just isn't as good of an athlete as guys like Jacare & Werdum.

Welp, he's 33 now, what age are you projecting complete evolution.

I've only seen his past 2 fights but he's very exciting - I've got a soft spot for the agressive submission fighters. I don't see him beating the top guys but I'm interested in seeing him fight again

Jacare has obviously improved his standup but until beats someone of worth and part of it due to his standup ,I'm not buying into this just yet....BTW, Mousasi could go down to 185 and put him to sleep.......AGAIN.

out of 100000000 fighters, name 2 that have won more than 1 fight with upkicks... that was a fluke, he was on his back and jacare was getting on top, jacare on top of mousasi, good by mousasi.

Yeah agree to be honest. Don't know if it's an athletic thing or a natural "killer instinct" thing to be honest but yeah, Maia has improved but not as well as the guys you mentioned.

Pretty sure I saw Overeem being outclassed by Werdum on the feet for the first round of their rematch.

Not too blind

Sorry to disappoint but if u saw Overeem outclassed by Werdum in the stand up, u must see again the fight or really u have vision issues

Werdum got the best on Overeem on few ocasions, maybe Reem didn't care about Werdum's power or maybe he was just scared of the takedown, but Werdum had him backing up with boxing sequences some times on that fight, only blind fans can't see that. Jds fans went crazy after that fight, saying he would knock reem's head off easily, but the fight would be very different cuz reem wouldn't have to worry about takedowns or even kicks.

That being said, judges won't score for you if you keep laying on the ground and calling your opponent there. Reem wasn't agressive enough that day and Werdum could have edged a decision if he didn't lose to himself by flopping around multiple times.
