Also, about the first and last paragraph, doesn't this argue against the request having come from POTUS? The memo he's responding to here isn't from the president, it's from the Secretary of the Army who issued the request on behalf of the District of Columbia. Trump isn't president of DC. It has its own government.

I intend these as open questions, by the way, not attacks on you particularly. I still have very low confidence that the quoted exchange between Miller and Trump took place, but I'm totally open to being corrected by new information, as I understand you to be.

Anyway, as you say, this memo fails to mention any directive from POTUS. And the memo he's responding to here isn't from the president, it's from the Secretary of the Army. That means the Secretary of the Army is the one who issued the request. It's actually evidence against there having been any communication from Trump on the matter, isn't it?

Without permission. Need his authorization. Guessing he didn't want to escalate until necessary. Directive from the highest ranking military person who directly reports to Trump. And the request came from DC it says but if he requested it why not say? Why would he not tell the truth (he already testified) when the truth seems worse? If he was told to do it and failed bc of the possible backlash that's worse given what happened than saying it was never requested or he requested and it was ignored. Military here don't have to say who requested only that they are ordering what they order. DC does have a mayor but we've heard nothing to the effect that they requested this after the fallout.

I know its no attack bud. We are always good.

Well as I've said, no evidence I can cite will make you doubt Donald Trump. You believe in him too strongly to accept that he might've done anything wrong so you'll twist and ignore evidence as you've done ITT to cobble a defense for him.

That's why you'll ignore Trump's own words, whether the call to Raffensperger or the very speech he made on Jan 6th. You'll ignore that it took over three hours for Trump to call of his dogs and to this day maintains that they did nothing wrong and is planning on pardoning them.

None of the actual evidence matters to you though, you'll just make things up as needed.

I couldn't have known about the memo until today. It makes the theory on the rioters less likely... this goes along with other items. The call from trump was a conference in the presence of others in both teams and ultimately recorded. I read the transcript but it's vague. With 65M votes hand counted to find more votes doesn't seem damning to me. Imo, how many other things will come out like 26 CIs when none reported to congress when examined. This memo along with testimony on the military request.... The whole thing seems flimsy at best which is probably why they waited before the election year to even bring it up. I believe the reverse is true. No amount of evidence will convince you otherwise. My entire track record in here has been not defending criminal acts by Republicans and I like more of them than I do Trump. I have only voted for the guy in general but voted someone else in all 3 primaries he was on the ticket. But this all seems weak as I have looked and some of the CT of Trump's push to have these idiots storm the capital look weaker and weaker... again... what else is out there that just hasn't been released. Why is this stuff even coming out now?

To be clear, you're not denying that Trump tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power by overturning the election on Jan 6th are you?

If you do deny that, what do you think the point of the protest that day was?

What about the memo undermines the fact that Trump tried to steal the election.

I def think he wanted oversight and review same as some of the Senators. I believe he did think he won. I believe it was fair to question but ultimately there does have to be acceptance of defeat without further evidence. What I don't see is a lot of the stuff as directly criminal. Of course something like the riots... those guys went to prison when they could have cut a deal to throw trump or someone is his camp under the bus. Every aspect of what is presented had holes/questions raised.

The federal military can’t and should not intervene with a civilian problem. I can’t believe this has to be explained.

If the military intervened there would be a lot more than one dead Trumptard. Is that what you want? Do you want the military to be the one that decides winners and losers?

Edit: and of course after looking into it Trump wasn’t trying to stop the protests.

Trump had exhausted his legal options, that’s why he was trying to get Pence to break the law and illegally delay the certification. Apparently you think it's fine for a sitting president to try to steal an election as long as he believes it was stolen from him.

Which he probably didn't btw, he was lying and for some reason you buy it hook, line, and sinker. Trumpers are skeptical of anything and everything other than Trump who they trust absolutely.
