Izzy vs Sean is the most boring fight you could not stop watching

Btw i did like Izzy x Strickland. Sean check kick game was a thing of beauty. And It was funny to see how Izzy became broken in the course of the fight. He tried low kicking, Sean checked all of em, he stopped and then tried high kicks, no effect, when the boxing didnt work either he lost the will to fight altogether.

That fight was so weird. I was scratching my head like “wtf Izzy?”. Sean wasn’t really doing anything he doesn’t normally do. It was shocking how poorly prepared Izzy looked.
Many analysts out there pointed out Izzy's weaknesses in boxing range except none of it got heard because of how much Izzy got glazed by the rest of the MMA world, spearheaded by Joe Rogan and his terrible takes.

Strickland was just that guy to expose his weaknesses on boxing rage (well, again. Jan did it the first time but Izzy fanboys/Rogan were in complete denial about it).

i dunno i only thought the 2nd round was boring because there wasnt much activity from either man. but outside of that it was a treat and a delight to watch Strickland's defensive skills shut down almost everything Izzy was doing. ive watched the fight a few times since and Strickland's responsiveness to everything Izzy throws is unbelievable. its like he saw what Izzy was doing before he did it.

I cannot think of one, settle a wager...name one that is worse. That you could not stop watching, and why you could not stop watching it. Thanks.
Honestly for me it was Yoel vs Izzy or ngannou vs Derrick Lewis.

You had to watch because you just hoped that something would happen but nothing ever did.

The thing that got me was...if I saw this on a schoolyard...I'd leave and go get ice cream. However because of who were in it, and the massive underdog...After round 1 Izzy keeping it close...

My son walks in and asks me what I'm doing and watches for a bit and leaves...comes back and rolls his eyes. I ask what's up and he says that is the most boring fight he's seen sparking the conversation.

I couldn't take my eyes off it while I knew how boring it was but I was still very interested. It was the first time I watched it but I already knew the outcome.

Compelling and lame. Amazing too.

Why you talking about that with the awesome fights coming up this weekend at UFC 296.
Cuz I am more casual than you (probably) and didn't watch the fight until I noticed it released on YouTube recently. I'm pretty sure a good number of people skipped this one cuz they thought it would be Izzy routing Strickland, so its somewhat apropos for lesser fans (my opinion).

Boring yet exciting. So when Maia Fitch'd Fitch that shit wasn't exciting but I enjoyed every second of it. Randy vs Big Timmy wasn't that exciting outside of a few moments but it was exciting due to Randy being a massive dog and dominating.

Diaz vs Condit , I just kept expecting fireworks that never came

your son is blessed if thats the most borring fight ever. Its one of izzy's more exciting fights.

The way Strickland sat in the pocket to nullify the reach advantage and limit the kicks was scary...and effective. I constantly thought he was going to get smashed. Then HE smashed in the end of the first. For me that was the best sequence. I love how Izzy typically uses his head for bait and counters the crap out of his opponent. Somehow that was not happening. Izzy seemed to think it was an off night for him. I often watch the fights with the sound muted. For me it was a defensive master class. But both men, at the end of the fight, didn't look like they had been in a fight if you know what I mean. JBG got no sacrifice that night...

I came here to post these two as tops. Agreed you couldn't blink because maybe something amazing can happen any second but in the end nothing did.

@Spaslab your suggestion not even my top five. There's also Woodley vs Wonderboy 2, their first fight was a dramatic back and forth banger and the rematch was a staring contest.
Rose vs Carla 2, every round started and I'd think this is the round rose will go hard for the win. Holm vs Correia got so boring the ref stepped up to tell them to fight, although Holm finally delivered a beautiful head kick KO.

this is a really bad opinion, but fortunately 10 better examples were immediately presented.

Anderson Silva vs Nick Diaz
People were entertained by a guy lying on the ground.
