I went back for a second viewing today. I really enjoyed it again. One thing I didn't notice the first time was the librarian creepily staring at Ben as he was flipping through the history of Derry books. That was so subtle, but if you notice it, extremely creepy.
Aside from her great acting and looking hot (if she wants to be), I cast Amy Adams as adult Beverly in my mind because the young Beverly actress looked like Amy to me when I was watching the movie.
It's almost better to think of it as Stephen King as the more effective Freddy Kruger, rather than his characters. He's got a supernatural knack for pulling dread and terror out of banal circumstances, thus the effect is readers believing there is something just beyond their average, everyday field of vision. After watching the new It and not really liking it, I decided to revisit the original It which I haven't seen since childhood, and the original isn't all that great either. I think I liked the remake better. I like Stephen King and all, but this just isn't one of his better stories. To be fair, I haven't read the book, but reading the synopsis about an ancient space turtle and gangbang child sex tells me that this must have been the period when King was getting high on household cleaning products.
Also, Pennywise is a less effective Freddy Krueger. If I'm choosing which character is the better supernatural force that preys on kids' fears, then it's Freddy all day.
Oh yeah, I noticed that on first viewing. I was expecting her to mess with him right there and then. That pharmacist was creepy as all hell too. Hope he comes back for Chapter Two.

A couple weeks ago CM Punk posted a story that he watched the IT trailer and got excited for the movie so he decided to read the copy of the book he had. He opened up the book and the date said 8/31/90. The current date was 8/31/17, exactly 27 years from the time he started reading the book. He used to write down the dates as a kid when he started and finished a book. Thats pretty trippy.
The librarian scene was one of the creepier scenes in the movie IMO, and I bet a ton of people totally overlooked it. When the pharmacist told Beverly she looked like Lois Lane after she said he looked like Clark Kent there were a few audible groans of cringe in the seats behind me lol.
In the 1990 Miniseries young Bill was played by Jonathan Brandis , who committed suicide at 27.Goosebumps
