Finally saw it, was decent to good for me 6.5 - 7 max.

Expected a tad more out of it for all the praise and huge box office success.

I'm thinking this will hit closer to home for others fans of the genre and source material.

Liked the fat kid, girl (Bill, Beverly) child actors they were the best ones. That other kid with the mother jokes went full Kevin Lee to much.

I think they were waiting to see how it would perform before giving the green light. Doesn't seem like it now, but it was seen as a risk. That's probably why it feels like it could be a self contained story. No real cliff hanger, but at the same time lots of seeds for the possible chapter 2.

Yep. New Line had little faith in this movie given the $35 million budget. In hindsight the smart play would have been to up budget and film both movies in a row. New Line took a big gamble with Lord of the Rings and filmed all three at once with an extremely high budget(It actually ended up saving them a lot of movie as filming the movies separate would have been more)

One good thing is I imagine they can up the budget for chapter 2 considerably.

So finally watched it and it was OK but that was about it. The new richie tozier is annoying as fuck. He wasnt annoying in the original.

Lets hope chapter 2 picks up.
