Islam towards Featherweight or Retirement ?

You simply hate Islam and will find any way to shorthand his achievements, downplay his goals and simply trash him. There is no point in a rational discussion with you.

It's not hate, dog. It's reality. Topuria put forth the challenge and next minute Islam is on the russian creatine and getting himself outta the division.

And if Islam accepted the fight and won, he would simply have beaten another featherweight and was avoiding a real challenge. I've heard it all before, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with you guys.

Hey, I can't speak for other fight fans, but I wouldn't have said that at all lol.

And Topuria wouldn't have been just another FW. He made it pretty clear he was done at FW. He would have been a proper LW like he is now. It wasn't going to be some thing like with Volk where he held on to the FW title and no one really knew what he was going to do if he did beat Islam.

And who fucking cares if they are FWs. Islam's best title defenses are against a FW lol. Volk is light years better than short notice Moic, and one hip Dustin.

Sorry but I'm not buying it. This site has a LOT of users who have some sort of xenophobia about the Dagestan fighters. I know Volk is a hell of a feather to have in the cap, but you go and ask many on here, they'll tell you how the first fight was a robbery and the 2nd fight only ended in a finish because it was short notice.

I don't really give a shit about where Islam is from or what other people are claiming.

And what's so wrong with those claims anyway? A lot of people thought it was a close fight, which it literally was considering all the rounds were very competitive and Volk only needed to win 1 more round on 2 of the cards that were giving him rounds to win the fight. I don't really consider it a robbery.

And why is it so outlandish to you that the 2nd fight ended in a finish because of short notice? They're both very fucking good and were pretty evenly matched in a lot of areas in the first fight. Neither guy was anywhere really close to a finish at any point over 5 rounds. And then Volk came in to the rematch with his reactions way slower than usual. That almost always happens to fighters when they haven't been training for a fight. He barely reacted to an earlier headkick before the big one landed.

I'm not saying Volk would have won that rematch otherwise or anything. I don't think you can really come in on short notice and beat Islam lol. And I'm not knocking Islam for what he did in the rematch. Bro did what he was supposed to do.

He certainly did but people won't give him his due, they scream it was short notice, but those same people also get mad at Jon for not accepting Chael on short notice. Volk certainly had the most dominant round in the first fight but by the time he had entered the 5th round, he needed a finish, having only won the 3rd round in my eyes. But if Islam is able to beat JDM, we'll see if he finally gets his due. I highly doubt it, but it would be nice being wrong on this.

ahh the old kabib retire on top still in your prime once the competition starts heating up too much strategy

He ran away from a worse, smaller boxer to fight a larger, better boxer?

<JagsKiddingMe>
Ilia is a worse boxer than Giacomo? Is that why he fully sleeps everyone he touches, while Giacomo is relying on corrupt judges to get a robbery victory over Basil Hafez?

Lol Islam is only 34. He is not old. This dude is clean as hell, eats healthy no alcohol. So we can minus years just for that.

Ilia is a different boxer than JDM. You could say better, or you could say more deadly.
As an overall striker, I don't know.

But let's stick with better. JDM is 11 cm taller.

Would you favor Ilia vs JDM in a stand up fight @ 170?

Way to big for featherweight, I think there is a big chance he retires if he beats JDM, defended the belt multiple times, champion of two weight classes, beat one of the best p4p twice in Volk, his list of title defenses is perhaps not the most impressive, most impressive is when he won the title against Charles imo. I think he wants to go out on top and he has a real big chance of doing it tonight, cant wait.

A grappling edge because he's great plus the size, maybe.
On the feet Islam is way better and has the reach advantage.
Islam striking is B-C tier. So is Bradys but with much more volume
