Media Islam Makhachev visits a school for special needs

When it’s all said and done, will Islam leave the sport with a greater legacy than Khabib?

i dont think Islam will ever truly surpass Khabib since Khabib was the first one out of Dagestan to really get super famous. he had so many iconic lines and phrases. he also went undefeated in the UFC and didnt have much trouble with most opponents.
Islam has proven to be extremely skilled and dangerous, but he's been KO'd before and some opponents have given him some trouble like Arman, Thiago Moises and Volk. its likely he surpasses Khabib in title defenses and/or if he wins a second belt. but i dont think he will ever have the same impact Khabib had on the sport.

on topic of the thread - this is a really awesome thing for Islam to do. he seems like a pretty decent guy from all of the footage and interviews i have seen of him.
You said it all perfectly.
He was first, he was undefeated, he was way better on the mic and was more dominant. Even if Islam defends more and gets the 170 belt, Khabib will always be singular.
And his rivalry/fight with Conor may end up going down as the biggest moment in MMA history. To this point, I still think it was the peak of MMA.

just realized he would look hilarious without that beard

For a second I thought he had finally agreed to meet Conor McGregor.

Was touched by this. I've never really disliked Islam, have mostly been indifferent about him while acknowledging his skill, but I respect him today, after this.
Real champs are real champs out of the cage too.

p.s. Duplesis bless. He´d make another great champ, as would have Dustin Poirier to name a few.

its so crazy; he's from Dagestan and is Muslim but he looks like half of the dudes who i went to school with in Long Island NY. most of those guys had Italian, Greek, Jewish, German or Irish ancestry.
maybe nature just cycles through a large set of pre-made faces.

Anyone can be a Muslim just like they can be Christian or Catholic, Dagestani people ended up being Muslim through Islamic conquest. Other than that they’re just like any other group of White Europeans, hardly distinguishable from other European ethnic groups like Serbs, Croats or Bosniaks. You can pretty much get a European native from any country in Europe, give them a chinstrap and they’d pretty much fit right in.

Good to see him visit his alma mater.

Wasn’t nice seeing him beat Volk like that but thats only because I like Volk so much but at the same time Islam is easy to like aswell and theres nothing to fault him on.
