You said it all perfectly.i dont think Islam will ever truly surpass Khabib since Khabib was the first one out of Dagestan to really get super famous. he had so many iconic lines and phrases. he also went undefeated in the UFC and didnt have much trouble with most opponents.
Islam has proven to be extremely skilled and dangerous, but he's been KO'd before and some opponents have given him some trouble like Arman, Thiago Moises and Volk. its likely he surpasses Khabib in title defenses and/or if he wins a second belt. but i dont think he will ever have the same impact Khabib had on the sport.
on topic of the thread - this is a really awesome thing for Islam to do. he seems like a pretty decent guy from all of the footage and interviews i have seen of him.
just realized he would look hilarious without that beard
its so crazy; he's from Dagestan and is Muslim but he looks like half of the dudes who i went to school with in Long Island NY. most of those guys had Italian, Greek, Jewish, German or Irish ancestry.

Are you peeing your pants from the hilarity yet?just realized he would look hilarious without that beard
Real champs are real champs out of the cage too.Was touched by this. I've never really disliked Islam, have mostly been indifferent about him while acknowledging his skill, but I respect him today, after this.

maybe nature just cycles through a large set of pre-made faces.
