Islam has broken the record for title defenses at LW. Ilia defended the FW belt ONCE. Anyone arguing that ilia deserves to fight for the 155 belt but Islam doesn’t deserve to fight for the 170 belt can seriously get fucked. Islam is way more deserving that ilia, it’s insulting to even suggest otherwise. Ilia should’ve defended against Movsar and Lopes, he fucked the division because nobody will take the next champ seriously.

Nope; this isn’t how it works, not all champs deserve a title shot at a higher weight. It has to be earned. Volk earned it, islam earned it as well. Ilia has one defense, he hasn’t earned it. If he beat lopes and Evloev nobody would be able to deny him but let’s get real.

i still think Islam should take a fight at WW in the top 15 just to prove he can hang up there. Ilia needs a fight in the top 5 of LW, he vacated his belt too soon.

170 is stacked. Islam shouldn't jump the line just because what he has done at 155. Just like how it's unfair for Ilia to jump the line at 155 even tho he's the FW champ, Islam shouldn't be allowed to jump the line in a division he's done NOTHING in.

Yes, we can’t count any fights in the desert and we don’t count any defenses against the champions from lower weight classes and we especially don’t count short notice opponents as title defenses.

2 fights in the desert -2
2 against the FW champ -2
2 (almost 3) short notice opponents -2
out of 5 title fights his record is 5-6=−1 could be almost -2 in title fights and that means there is still lots of work to do in LW for him.

Jokes aside, I hope he goes up no matter what happens in the Bilol fight, takes one or two contender fights without any shenanigans and proves himself there and with that he absolutely earns my respect.

Volk did nothing at 155 and still got the chance twice, thanks to Islam. Islam deserves the shot at 170 because he’s already given a 145’er a shot, so he isn’t asking for something he himself hasn’t already given to the champion from a lower weight class. Ilia and Islam are not the same, one hasn’t put in the work, the other has.

He should vacate and go up. Campaign for a fight with Kamaru, still high ranked, former P4P, a huge name for his record. I understand he doesn’t want to fight Shavkat, so let that be, Leon just fought, Brady should get the next shot, no matter who wins. Fight Usman and prove yourself. That would silence everyone.

If he jumps to WW is because his team believes he can beat JDM. Shavkat comes next for him, so what's the problem?
It's not his fault Shavkat got injured.

It would be a shame if he doesn't rematch Arman but, again, not his fault.
And eventually facing Shavkat pretty much makes up for it big time.

Volk didn’t have to prove himself, neither should Islam. The comparison point for Islam is Volk, not ilia. The reason ilia needs to prove himself is because he’s only defended his own belt once, he hasn’t earned anything.

You can do enough in your own division that you’ve earned an immediate shot at a title in the higher weight class. It’s not complicated. Islam broke the LW title defense record and he’s about to tie Anderson Silva for the longest win streak in UFC history. He’s done the work. Ilia by comparison hasn’t done shit. One title defense only, that’s insulting to think he’s in the same category as Islam. Not all champs are the same.

The welterweight champ wants to fight at middleweight

The heavyweight champ won't fight because the match up he wanted was against the former Light Heavyweight Champ
