Yeah the regime has announced 7 or so offensives to remove isis from tiyas but they still there and 3 high ranking regime officers dead

Sdf force taking casulties removing them
Turk-fsa force as videer showed finding al bab tough
And mosul offensive utterly stalled with heavy casulties, talk of a 'strategic refit' needed

Overall isis seem to be a long way from finished..if this is how they resist for a small city like al bab then raqqua will be a tough nut to crack

Leopard 2A4 after its turret decided to go for a walk near al Bab.

As IS releases a rather gruesome video of burning to death two captured Turkish soldiers I wonder what kind of response Erdogan has.

Jordanian response in the similiar situation a while back was a Putinesque macho photoshoot with the king and a few token airstrikes until the whole thing was forgotten.

edit. what a twisted turn of events:

Yeah seems isis also tortured and beheaded kurds from a failed ypg attack on jabal (spelling) village as part of the kurdish push on raqqua

Meanwhile reportedly isis take yet another small regime village in east homs and 7 checkpoints, talk of them moving deeper into hama, deir el zoir and offensives in iraq too! They aint dead yet it seems

Last rebels leave aleppo, twitter and net flurry as a regime spokesman allegedly said the kurds had a month to get out too! Denied so far (itd be a retarded move to enagage the kurds now)

Charles lister has a great breakdown of the various mergers/politicial bickering currently among the larger rebel forces in idib ...how they are resolved will prob determine shape of war to come
Interesting point is that all new recruits being trained in assasination, hit and run and ied building...hints of a return to more guerilla style warfare.

Turk-iran-russian 'peace talks ' going ahead ..note no regime, rebel , kurd or u.s presence

Didn't baghdadi ban the making of those video's like a year ago?

Baghdadi hardly is relevant.

Turks are now in the American position of intervening without a coherent strategy. Getting sucked into a hopeless quagmire.

Unlike the Americans and Russians, however, the Turks' combat abilities are questionable.

Turkish army seems pretty incompetent, the first thing you do when you lose hardware like tanks and shit is to use air strikes to destroy them and kill anyone trying to take them.

One of the captured Leopards was reportedly destroyed by an airstrike.

The bullshit needs to be cut. The "moderate rebels", as John McCain once proudly called them, need to be unarmed and Turkey must give up on fighting the Kurdish in Syria. Focus on wiping out the goddamn terrorists then find a diplomatic approach with Syria instead of continuing the failed coup d'état.

"Moderate" rebels using "moderate" means to fight the regime:

The Damascus water authority has been forced to cut supplies coming into the Syrian capital for a few days and use reserves instead after rebels polluted the water with diesel, it said on Friday.

The al-Fija spring which supplies Damascus with water is in the rebel-held Wadi Barada valley northwest of the capital in a mountainous area near the Lebanese border.

So
-fierce fighting still around t4 airbase, palmyra and deir el zour

-turk russia peace talks /ceasefire apparently sealed! Kurds/jfs and isis all excluded ,no word on how rebs or the mayor of damascus (assad) will react
Turkey and russia acting as guarantors of ceasefire
Talk of it moving towards combined trans goverment Where assad is 'in charge ' but has short time limit before must step down.....sounds deeply unworkable from both sides

-chechyan red beret 'death squads 'to be deployed to syria by order of russia, they will apparently keep various pro regime militas in line and engage 'isis' etc in hilly country

-reported regime milita losses grow to almost triple figures despite rebel pullout! Culprit being ieds left for looters
The fav being ied rigged fridges have taken a toll on looting militas ...theres a chill out or ice joke in there somewhere surely.
