Jihadists are not known for their intelligence. They are better equipped on a personal level than the Syrian army though. That Gulf States money must really be coming in.

You are shitting me right? The russians have given regime and its foriegn legions a metal gear solid virtualy unlimited ammo bandana ! They are all packing the latest in ruskie gear and most have enough ammo to deal with a zombie apocalypse single handedly!

SDF appears to have joined YPG who are also bringing in troops from elsewhere in battling the regime remnants in Hasaka. Kurdish forces call for regime forces to lay down their arms and surrender of face death.

IS would be suicide bomber captured in Kirkuk who appears to be quite young.

-many fsa linked groups in south form their own faction may restart fighting regime again soon

-israeli drone strikes regime artillery that was firing over border in or around baath city

-main news seems to be 'peace settlement 'in hasaka , terms of which amount to pretty much utter surrender by regime to kurds after days of kurdish gains.....seems kurdish dream of their own state getting a step closer.

-turkish small town on border advises residents to evacuate to avoid isis mortar fire. Rebel forces and turk artillery massing there to take isis held town
Turks have also hit kurds too to stop them taking town as well

Fast gains by the combined Turkish-rebel offensive near Jarabulus. I bet YPG are fuming when the bus they've just been thrown under is right next to them.

Called it, the Kurds simply dont learn that the US sees them as expendable cannon fodder.

This is what? the third time the US backstabs them?

The Kurds are making too many enemies at once. They're actively battling the Syrian government while conducting two ongoing insurgencies in Turkey and Iran. That's not to mention their conflict with ISIS and tensions with the Shia dominated Iraqi government. I think they overextended themselves by engaging regime forces in Al-Haskah, geopolitically speaking.

Now everybody around them realizes they're a threat. Turkey is now actively intervening, probably with tacit acknowledgement from Russian and Iran. I want the Kurds to have their own state, but they're painting a giant bulls-eye on their back with the way they're going about it.

Jarablus captured after a non-fight. IS simply left much like at Tal Abyad and Sinjar.

Yup a few more small border towns taken too, turkey has said its forming a safe corridor for the moderate rebels and fighting isis but its all clearly aimed at the kurds
Il bet turkey also uses this to offload some of the massive refugee population at their border into these towns.

They make too much enemies because they decided to take on the islamists?

Seems to me like the US was using the Kurds again to twist the arm of the big players in the region... AGAIN.

Anyone else get the feeling that the Kurds were honeytrapped at Hasaka?

No, they got greedy and tried to take the entirety of Hasakah. There was absolutely no reason to engage the Syrian army there, as they occupied a few isolated pockets. No doubt they received some sort of incentive to do so from an outside power, but the YPG is getting thrown under the bus for it. You don't try to take on everybody at once, which is what the Kurds are doing.

My guess is that the Syrian army will withdraw from the area after this, allowing Turkey to bombard the Kurds at will. Iraq and Iran are both more than happy to watch the Kurds get pummeled. It's clear from the development in the past month that Turkey and Russia had reached some sort of agreement over the division of Syria.

SDF reportedly clashing with rebels south of Jarablus. Does SDF get air cover at night because they have it 24/7 while the new rebel offensive supposedly does not have around the clock air cover?

Look at the bright side of it though, at least we are quaranteed to get one win! WIN WIN!

Seems like the turks are using this as an excuse to expand turkey

Huge largely ugnored news in light of turkish military opps is the un report thats just dropped.
On mainstream news sites like sky and bbc the un chem weapons team has concluded that the assad regime is responsible for at least 2 attacks in 2014 and 2015
The un is scheduled to discuss the findings august 30th ...expect russian denial and veto and chinese indifference.
