Is Valentina Shevchenko the best Taekwondo fighter in the UFC?

No, because Valentina is a woman.

Can we stop the idiotic comparisons between male athletes and female athletes.

Can we get and idiots guide to biology for the sherdoggers.
<{vega}>
Biology has nothing to do with skill or mastery of a technique. We're not saying she could beat any of these men, just that she executes the moves the best.

Ever heard of Anthony Pettis?
Or Benson Henderson?

Damn it! Apologies to the bleed demons

Forgot completely about the dragon, Felder is hella fun to watch. Might not be cleanest but it's violent.

Right now maybe, but all time UFC I might go with Pettis.

No order.
Shevchenko
Pettis
Cruickshank
Makdessi
Barboza

Would probably be considered the top group.

Benson Henderson TKD?

Did you forget Yair? I’m not even a fan of his but his TKD skills are sick.

Ok, but there is a much higher degree of difficulty when trying to execute these skills against someone like a Jose Aldo, than against someone like a Jessica Eye.

I could probably land a beautiful spin kick KO on my wife, and I can look really good doing it. I could try to do the same to Edson Barboza, and I would probably look like a fool attempting it and wake up on a stretcher.

Shevchenko took the conventional path of an MMA fighter; left TKD for Muay Thai, etc.

An MMA competitor can mix the techniques together, cross train & pick up style points. The styles, however, are fundamentally different in their base.

Very apparent the maximum physicality of Muay Thai practice seen the the video.

EDITORIAL: Muay Thai makes a great style for MMA, not the least because MMA strikers are crappy boxers. Nunes over Cristiane; Rose over Joanna the reverse case.

That's pretty damn hypothetical, especially because Valentina always looks phenomenal, no matter who's she's facing. Amanda Nunes, Joanna, doesn't matter. Of course we'd never see her perform against a man, at least in any professional sense. Of course Valentina doesn't beat Barboza because of obvious physical differences.

How do you think Barboza would look trying to perform a spinning kick against Cro Cop?

You gotta look at in relative to their own weight class, and when guys like Wonderboy say Valentina has some of the best moves in MMA man or woman, I tend to take that as a pretty good indicator.

exactly! This is the key point -- we're not saying "she'd win a fight against a man at equivalent weight" (althought she might well...) the premise of this thread is simply talking about Taekwando technique. That's it.

She's spent more time competing in kickboxing and muay thai than Taekwondo, she's also a judo black belt so labelling her a taekwondo fighter is misleading.

Valentina is the best female fighter I’ve ever seen
Her technique is up there with the very best male or female

Valentina said in her signature series that her style is taekwondo, so in her fights you see techniques that you usually can see in Taekwondo.

And she does it with amazing technique and snap. This chick has the highest fight iq, undersized and never been dominated at 135 pounds, her brain is very sharp she is quick

These girls are all considered top strikers she is countering and out striking with her timing and set ups.

She’s real good, but there’s a whole mess a dudes that would fuq her up. So she can’t possibly be the best.

Imagine if she had longer limbs, she'd be even more devastating. That would be the icing on the cake.

She is already devastating enough. We don't want her to actually kill people.

I understand you're talking about strictly technique here, but even on that I disagree. Put her in there against Barboza, Aldo, or Pettis, and take away the power advantage, pad them up and make it minimal contact, point karate or whatever, and I would bet anything that she still gets clowned.

Not trying to take anything away from Shevchenko, she's one of the best female martial artists I've ever seen. I just think the gap between men and women is so wide, and our ability to perform physical activities is so beyond theirs whether we are talking strength, speed, explosiveness, or whatever.

Wonderboy is just virtue signalling, I doubt he actually believes that when he says it. Rogan said Ronda could beat men on the UFC roster, Cain under the right circumstances, bla bla bla. Those guys are just yapping, I'll go by my own experience in thousands of martial arts classes and sparring sessions. Have I ever sparred with anyone even close to Valentina's level? Well no, but then again I'm nothing close to a Jose Aldo or Wonderboy Thompson either.

No, I Valentina up against a male from the UFC flyweight.

Again, you're missing the point.

Whatever narrative you wanna try and push doesn’t mean shit. She would get fuq’d up?
Her body would be laying there stiff and you’d still be talking about missing points.
