SJW crap has always been around. It's just that social media is helping feed the flames. People are looking for likes or just trying to troll the opposition. I remember my instructor (who was Latina and a damn fine one at that) telling our class after Trump was elected that "it's not the end of the world" and she didn't believe we were that divided as a country as people would believe. She was the only professor that said this while all the other white professors were all solemn and talking about how depressed we should all be. Funny how it was a minority female that was the level headed one.

But I agree with most of the sentiment here in that a great war, famine, or large scale natural disaster would put things in perspective. I don't want that to happen at all but it seems to be the only time people can set aside their political and social differences

SJW nonsense goes wayyyyy beyond homosexuality. Most people are fine with gay people, but not fine with the spastic left going all Downsy because their 70 genders aren't recognized by the majority or because a 40 year old man can't shower with girls.

This white chick I went to college with was pointing out to me how we should be tolerant of people who were born male but identify as women. I said ok that's fine. Then I asked her if some white girl like herself showed up tomorrow rocking an Afro, tanner skin, and wants to identify as a black woman would she be ok with that? She was like yeah at first until I pointed out to her that she told me a few weeks before that it would be offensive to black women for someone white to do that because in her words, "white women have no idea what women of color go through." She had nothing to say after that.

Most of the people that I hang with are liberal, and I've only met one actual "crazy, purple hair type SJW' in my life. She was a young, bisexual chick from SoCal. (very talented girl )
These people exist more online than in real life.
And I think people are more putting on a show and being stupid rather than actually believing in this shit. You get a group of dumb people together, and they tend to do dumb shit. Put a camera in front of their face, and they'll say dumb shit. Steer them in a direction, and they'll go. Most people are sheep.

I think the only thing I've changed about any of my behavior as far as being PC goes, is I don't say f** or retard anymore. So I don't know why people complain about this so much. It has little effect on any of our lives
How many people know a tranny? I have never had to have a conversation about gender identity. And the conversations I've had about feminism were either with female friends, or in school.

I think the Tea Party is an apt comparison. It is a minority of people that are loud and pushing forward a conversation.
But, then we need to look at the actual message. The tea party were loud and annoying, but it wasn't like they were totally wrong. Their basic message was about lower taxes and lowering the deficit. People just thought they were annoying hillbillies, and got tired of hearing about them. And this was the age of 'Joe the Plumber' and Sarah Palin, so those trainwrecks got lumped into that package.
And like groups like BLM, and other LGBT groups, they didn't have any actual leaders, so their message was often never totally understood or articulated.

As with the "SJW" stuff, it seems like people are more annoyed with the message than them actually disagreeing with it. (at least with some of the issues) The argument I most frequently hear about the NFL and Kaepernick thing is "why does he have to do it THERE???", and not, "I disagree with his message".
What ends up happening is that EVERY issue regarding race or gender or whatever gets lumped into the SJW category, even when there are legitimate gripes.
But yea, there definitely needs to be some in house cleaning to drown out the stupid stuff, as well as getting leaders to deliver clear messages, so that people aren't confused as to what the protesting is about.
Having a bunch of different people talking, with no clear message is just noise. You just look like an angry mob
