Is there any doubt that Ngannou will absolutely obliterate Jon Jones?

You really think skinny Jon Jones can withstand this ferociousness? I know he's going to bulk up but Francis has been destroying natural HWs this whole time yet somehow someone who was a LHW his whole career is going to fare better? Not only better but actually beat Francis?

Even if you think Jon Jones is more skilled than the average HW, this only means that he may survive longer against Francis before his inevitable destruction.

Also consider the following:

(1) Jon Jones has never had KO power

(2) His last few performances have been his worse

(3) Francis is less than one year older than Jones. He's not the stereotypical old ass 40-something HW.

to be fair dom has god tdd and jones takedonws against the fence have never been that good seen in the first gus figth too

Considering how much Jones struggled in the clinch against Reyes i don’t see him dragging Francis down. His best bet is to out point him and discourage him with the counter striking. Definitely picking Francis.

Did you watch Jones fight Reyes? He can’t even take tooth pick light heavies down, wouldn’t be so sure that he can take and keep Francis down.
 
Sure Francis can ko Jon if he hits him. IF is a pretty dicey option. Jon is light years better than Francis in everything other than power. I expect Jon to be cautious, fight at range until he sees the opportunity to take Francis down and once he's down, no way he's getting up. He either finishes him on the ground or gasses him so bad he shreds him the next round with strikes.
If it goes past the first round or two I'd say Francis's chances drop dramatically.
 
jones could win...he would have to point fight for the first few rounds, try to get francis tired, and take him down in the later rounds

jones is clearly past his prime. he's slow. his offense is one-dimensional and low volume. his wrestling is basically non-existent. he has no power in his strikes. his defense is not great. also, for a long guy, he has no fucking jab whatsoever.

francis has a similar reach to jones, and he's pretty strong in the clinch -- not great, but maybe he's gotten better since the last stipe fight.

jones is going to attack with a lot of kicks, and his takedown game is all about the clinch/against the fence. I cannot remember the last time jones went for a double leg takedown in the middle of the cage. that's just not his style.

plus we've seen that jones is super hesitant now to clinch with guys who have any power (santos fight), so i don't see him willingly getting into clinch exchanges with francis.

current jones is a plodding, low volume kickboxer and i'm just not confident that he would survive against francis.
 
Jones has an iron chin and the best defense in the game. He is very good at not getting hit. I mean the guy literally ran from Rampage to avoid having to deal with his power. I can see Ngannou taking over the fight early but winging on all of his punches and gassing himself out.

You mean the fight jones trained for with cocaine and hookers?
 
Jon Jones has already bulked up for HW, he's like 250 lbs now. We don't know what he's going to look like in the cage. Maybe adding strength and muscle will help his wrestling, which hasn't looked great in a while.
To beat Francis, he probably needs to use his wrestling at least a little, because I don't see him knocking out Francis or winning a 5-round kickboxing decision.
 
My response to this is simple.... If you think Jones would stand infront of Ngannou and bang with him you're fooling yourself. That being said HW's have the power and the Black Beast has shown us true one punch power with that uppercut that Ngannou likes could spell disaster for anyone human that runs into it. But... you have to land it. Jon Jones might be a shit human being, but he's one of the most gifted fighters to ever step into the cage. Combine that with the fact he's been building muscle and will no longer have to cut weight to 205 I think he'll be a different animal against the slower HW's

you really think so ? You think he's going to go back to lhw , retire, or join another mma organization ? Ik j.j has been saying for years he's gonna move up but this time I believe him.
 
Jones has way more ways of beating Francis than the other way around. Jones that is 235-240 lbs has an even bigger advantage because the strength department is less one sided.
 
I think Jones will beat him. Francis hasn't fought anyone as talented as Jones yet. He will always have a puncher's chance, but I expect Jon to pick him apart and KO him.

Fair enough, but I'd bet that Ngannou at this point has better TDD then Reyes, simply due to being much larger and having experienced that Stipe fight. Plus Jones was similar size to Reyes, whereas he will likely be significantly smaller than Ngannou.

Don't get me wrong, I think Jones can win, but he has to play it extremely safe, even moreso than Stipe did, as Stipe has better head movement and fundamental boxing compared to Jones. Though Jones does have that ultimate equalizer, they unstoppable eyepokes from hell
