I'd take them preferring car meets for interaction than clubbing lol. Good to know there's hope for car culture. Seems like weekly I have teenagers gawking at my car telling me to rev it. So they aren't all buying into EV only future

There were some big name clubs in the city back the day. I remember going to Nocturnal and Excalibur lol. There was an industrial club that I went to a lot called Neo. Also would hit up spybar and Baja Beach Club.

But you're right... I used to go to some club in the wood field area. Alumni Club was all the rage too.

A lot of people outside Chicago don't know it, but it was the mecca for industrial music and clubs in the 80s and early 90s. I have much fonder memories of seeing ministry and my life with the thrill kill kult at some of those places than the normal clubs.

When it comes to clubs with DJ’s or live shows in Chi-town ehh.. it gets into the weeds imo. Yes of course there were places like Excalibur and Joes on Weed St but some of those places doubled as venues too. To me it would be like calling the ‘Double Door’ a ‘club’. Excalibur is a good call tho.

But to me if we’re talking about actual clubs for younger people/generations the suburbs dominated that scene from the mid 90’s to id say into the 2000’s. Even places where teens were allowed like Totos or ‘The Palindrome’ were in the suburbs. For whatever reason I’ve always associated more of our club scene with places in the suburbs while Chicago was big for bars and shows coming thru.

Now raves.. fuck that gets into a whole other category but that’s definitely going to be more Chicago for my era for sure. Elgin and some other spots might have some good ones once in a while too tho.. but honestly that was never my scene

I was never into it even when I was younger. A pub where you can hear yourself talk with your buds and watch a hockey game always had more appeal to me than a club with loud music.

I wasn't a fan of clubbing but I'd go with females just so I could drink while they danced. I have a close friend who used to manage a club and she'd get us in for free without waiting in line. So we'd get a table and I'd drink while the girls danced.
And when I got paid to go to a club, it was cool because I drank and got paid. The bar I work at hosted a game night at a club, so my boss would pay me to go with the girls who were hosting just to make sure they were safe. Most of my club experiences were a shit ton of Indian guys trying to buy drinks for the girls I came with <Fedor23>
There used to be a large country music club here and I'd go to that one once in a while with one of my buddies but never with other girls because I'd always end up meeting a girl there.

Reading through the thread again after more posts makes me envy you guys in having house parties, it really does sounds fun during for teenager and early 20s.

We have 80%+ high rise buildings for homes, loud music and 20+ drunk kids won't fly here unfortunately. Any time after 21:30, we'll probably get police knocking from neighbors complains. Can't blame them since so many families live so closely to each other because of how small my country is.

EDIT:
Our "house parties" are mainly adults, sitting down drinking wine and finger foods. Can't get shitfaced, and probably ends around midnight at the latest. Very tamed.

we’re turning into an Islamic country
Is this true? I've been seeing countless posts about this on X, but I took it with a grain of salt as I thought it was just propaganda...so it's true than? <{Joewithit}>

I don't go but then again i never did go there on the regular. I prefer bars with live music.

Gigs and bars are plenty to keep me occupied.

I live in LA and the club scene isn’t what it used to be. I still go out from time to time though if there’s a dope event happening. LA has turned into a house party scene > clubs. I go to parties in the Hills every other week but clubs pretty rarely. Just better all around to be honest.

Here’s a party my boys threw a little while back. I’m the guy earlier in the video with the LA hat on. House party scene here is a vibe.

Same on the east coast.

I was done with the club life back in my early 20s. I still went out a few times in my 30s but it was on rare occasions. Too loud, too expensive, and too many dudes.

I still love going to bars (particularly sports bars) because there are people of variety ages who just want to have a few and chill.

Man, having beers in someone’s backyard late at night during the summer is better than just about anything nowadays.

The actual brick and mortar club scene is definitely dieing but it has evolved in to edm festivals now. The death of the brick and mortar club has to do with club music being terrible drill music now that woman can't dance to. they put tables in the dance floor and they want you to basically rent those tables for 300 and up dollars. The Mexican club scene is alive because it is the complete opposite it is cheap, has woman dancing and no aggressive security.

Gen Z snitching on club go'ers by filming with cellphones is also killing the club.
