This makes sense, because as far as I'm aware, she doesn't even have a signature song. Something like Wannabe, Hit Me Baby One More time. Previous big acts would get so much playtime on TV and radio, that everyone would know the songs and lyrics whether they like it or not.

I think she's like the musical equivalent of Avatar. The biggest grossing movie of all time, which had almost no cultural impact whatsoever.

I have kids in junior school so I know I've heard her songs dozens if not hundreds of times, and yet I can't remember a single one of them. Actually, that's not entirely true, there is a pretty catchy Taylor Swift screaming goat clip which I do remember, but yeah, when I remember the parody and not the originals...

You need to correct those numbers for inflation and there will be only artists from the past left in the top 10.
Metallica and AC/DC played in front of more than a million people in Moscow. I doubt Swift can put 1 million people in one place with her music.

To be far politically that was a special time. No way you can recreate that no matter how good the music. Russians could not stream their songs.

Drake was arguably bigger than her in the 2010s and Eminem in the 2000s

It is funny seeing Coldplay as #2 on the highest all-time grossing concert tour for their 2022-24 concert tour because I was just told they haven't been relevant for a decade.

*Ahem* @Corona
lol Coldplay hasn’t been relevant in at least a decade. I get the hate on a karate forum but they have some good songs. They’re in the same class as muse and the killers imo.

she is the biggest because the high profiles are shit these days. (i'd actually hoped there would be a - yes because everybody else is terrible - poll option)
the good music is elsewhere, she's basically the sonic mcdonalds.
i'd much rather listen to caroline polacheck or london grammar if i wanted talented female musicians.
she'd be smalltime if she was singing in the 80s.

They did 156 shows on the tour I hope they made a lot of money. They’re right behind global super star Pink in average gross and right ahead of another 2024 modern powerhouse Bruce Springsteen

Yet ahead of The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Harry Styles.

Maybe you're not as in touch as you think you are.

They’re a legacy act that’s known for putting on a good live show. If anything touring is the only way for them to stay somewhat relevant. They’re not hosting SNL, getting posted by rolling stone, making cameos in shows or movies. They’re not in the same universe as Taylor swift or even on the same planet as Sabrina carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, post Malone, Beyoncé, Morgan wallen, Kanye, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, bad bunny and many more.

They’re legacy “relevant” which is completely different than their main stream relevance 10 years ago when they were releasing household known songs.

FWIW I go 30-50 live shows a year and work with goldenvoice, insomniac and pretty much every music venue in LA for event sponsorships. I’m in the loop enough lol.

Indeed. But impressive crowd none the less.

Are you trolling? This was Feb-2023. They were the musical guests in Nov-2019 before that. Chris Martin made a solo appearance in 2020:

That's 3 music appearances in the last 5 years. That would match anyone.

I don't know how you think you can call them a "legacy act" after I enlightened you to the fact they have over 3 videos of new songs from the last 8 years with 1bn+ views-- even if one of those is a collab. One of those has 2.2bn views! Yes, that's every bit in the same class as Swift, Rodrigo, Kanye, BTS, Lamar, and anyone else.

*Edit*
And it's not just YouTube. Look at the Kworb. Coldplay is #5 among all music artists in total purchases on the iTunes store post-2010 behind only Sheeran, Adele, Rihanna, and Swift. They are currently the #20 top trending musical act globally across all major music media (iTunes, Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, radio, etc). That's right now: t-t-t-today.

LOL @ Coldplay claiming a perfect 1 billi. All of the other entries are relatively specific, then you get that one. Either exaggerated, or requiring new bean counters.

AC/DC, Metallica and Pantera.

I was at Sarsfest at Downsview in TO where crowd was roughly 500k. To think 3 times that amount.....insane!

That's why Wiki has a separate list for the most attended tours and standalone concerts. IIRC, Taylor doesn't make the Top 5 for either (maybe not even the Top 10). Although I looked a long time ago before her current tour completed. I'm pretty sure she'd be on it, now.

I said host not playing, there’s a difference. Chris Martin could walk down sunset right now and maybe a handful of people would recognize him. If any of those other names tried to they’d be mobbed by the paparazzi. I don’t care about your metrics. At some point the eye test has to account for something. Imagine dragons has 60m monthly listeners on Spotify but you’re not gonna tell me they’re twice as relevant as Chris Stapleton or Tyler the creator at 30m or more relevant fhan Olivia Rodrigo.
