is there a such thing as "legit akido bad ass"? last time i checked, there's as many aikido based ufc fighters as there are bikram yoga based ufc fighters... i'm sure the same is to be said for pride, strikeforce, bellator, etc etc

the best thing about him though, is that he believes his own hype. which provides a buttload of (unintended) comedy.

Haha, Seagal at that time, was in a huge rival vs. JCVD. He would have done anything to get over JCVD, and this would have been huge. But ooops, Seagal just remembered that he wasn't a real fighter and JCVD, actually was with something like 18 KO's on his fight record.

And why the hell would Stallone lie about this, back then when he was like 1000 times more famous and wealthy than both of them combined? He told this on a Howard Stern interview, which usually lasts 60 minutes. Not that easy to make shit up and keep it going smoothly. But why? Why smear Seagal about some incident 5+ years ago for?

He prolly couldn't keep up w any MMA fighters, but he could beat up 80% of ppl out on the streets and 99.9% of Sherdoggers. . .

Iirc in Stallone's version he went after Seagal later on that night and he still didn't want any part of it because JCVD was too powerful.

Guy is the epitome of TMA hoodwinking. TS still believes he trained Anderson for instance when we already know it was a PR stunt.

Seagal is also a wife beater and a bully. He beat his 2nd wife, Kelley LeBrock......known to rough up stuntmen from his movies, who couldn't do shit back b/c they need their jobs and wouldn't want to get blacklisted.....but little-guy, John Leguizamon (?) spoke out about how he'd get bullied by Seagal in that movie, Under Siege. He basically said that Seagal is an asshole. If he could fight, I doubt he'd run from JCVD....who's like much smaller too.

So a bunch of guys on Sherdog have figured out that a 7th dan BB is not legit? I guess they let just anyone become the first foreigner to run an Aikido school in Japan. Does he also not have black belts in Karate and Judo? So 3 black belts (that I can remember) and Sherdog posters think he is a fake. I think I've heard it all now

there are no aikido mma fighters, because ....

1. small joint manipulation isn't allowed, so the main tools of wrist locks not allowed.
grabbing someones moving hand is very hard anyway, a lot easier if they are grabbing your clothing. (no clothing in mma....)

2. only a 1/3 of training in akido is unarmed, the rest of the training is using staff and sword.
hence all of the obsession about wrist locks, the whole thing is based about weapons, not losing your weapon, taking a weapon from an opponent.
Even all the strikes and strike defences, copy the movement of weapon blows, hence all the weird chopping hand attacks, which bear little resemblance to any standard punches. even the throws are based around you holding a weapon, when performing them.


if MMA had swords or staffs, then aikido would be legit.

is Steven Segal legit, no clue.... but at the moment he doesn't look very healthy....

Aikido likes to focus on just "one point" in their techniques. Don't know why. It looks more like a Pro-Wrestling Lariat/Clothesline than an actual Judo throw, Osoto Gari.

It just goes to show how bad the techniques in the art are.

Aikido techniques are:

• One Point of Contact
• Ttrained against Willing Partners
• Unproven in Competition

Judo Techniques are:

• Multiple Points of Contact
• Trained against Resisting Opponents
• Proven in Competition

That is really all you need to know when deciding which one to train in.
