I love the way Pereira fights, he is extremely exciting in the ring, he is actually epithomy what a fighter should be - active, enganging, fighting often, not backing from challenges. A great, all time great fighter.
I like his demeanour, he got this cold aura, charisma, vibe.
But everything what I read about his charachter, his behaviour is that he is actually shabby and he just get free pass, because he doesn't speak english, so nobody knows it. He says rude things about other fighters, he is ill-natured in sparrings.
I mean - guys from Brasil should speak for it better, how is he perceived there?

Put it like this:

There's never anything that surprising about the shady shit that ends up surrounding any of these fighters.

The Edgars and Wonderboys and DJs are statistical aberrations, the rest are as susceptible to flaws as everyone else.

They might belong on the podium, but they don't inherently deserve to be put on a pedestal just by virtue of being good fighters.

Sean Strickland is ill natured in sparring. I'm only aware of the recent video where Chama KO'd some bum and we have no clue the circumstances. There's lots of sparring footage of him out there.

He's respectful of fighters until they start talking shit, then he responds in kind. He has always been complimentary of Izzy, for example, who was widely regarded as his nemesis.

He's not on the Wonderboy end of the nice guy spectrum, but he seems like an OK dude.

He is one of my favorite active fighters but he seems to be a dick. Also no good guy supports that Moneyberg idiot if they are already rich like Pereira is.

Depends on your standards I guess.

Every fighter that isn't a menace to the others outside the cage is a good enough guy in my book.

Why does it matter?
I sincerely believe around 40% of the fanbase look to their favorite fighters to help them identify their own masculinity and value systems, so they hate finding out their heros are quitters, or assholes, or whatever the case may be.

Once you've seen it enough, you can intentionally lay this type of naive idolatry aside imo, but it kinda requires getting burned a few times first.

My $.02

I mean, can you be considered normal or a good guy when you hurt others for entertainment? You have to be fu**ed up in your head and most went into mma bc of traumatic childhood/life events. So there are no real good people in there, even the ones who were clearly there for the competitive side of it like MM, GSP,...

Imagine if you would have to investigate the personal life of an author, an actor, a musician to be able to enjoy their art. Probably wouldn't even leave you time to be able to enjoy their actual art.

In this here case their mixed martial art.

This too. They chose to fight barefoot in a cage for money, you're getting more potential felons than you're getting saints in the making lol

I like to watch him fight but outside of the cage i'm just not sure of him given the way he acted toward Izzy.

I know Izzy himself is a bit of a bellend and may have caused a lot of the beef back in glory but I just don't know if he did or if Poatan might be a bit of a jackass.

He's a huge cocky asshole, like 99% of other male Brazilian fighters. It's part of why they're so endearing. They eat humble pie regularly, but also some of the most violent cats in the game.

Nobody should be putting fighters on moral pedestals, most of these guys have a few screws loose.

Oh no he is rude to other fighters and spars hard. I hope you‘ll recover, karen.

The Due Dilligence requirements of Sherdog‘s karens is one of the most rigorous out there.

Mate he beats ppl up for a living ffs.
If you want a saint find another sport.

Good luck with your search because 90% of professional athletes are complete douchebags.
Suck it up.
