Is Lima the best WW in the world?

Lima thinks Lima is the best. But, I can't help to wonder if roid usage ( I cant say for sure) is giving him a false sense of security, where drug testing isn't as regulated in Bellator as UFC is today.
oh yeah, all UFC fighters are sooo clean

Rory has very good takedowns, Koreshkov also has pretty good takedowns and Lima showed great improvements in his wrestling against them. The best test for him against a high lvl wrestler in Bellator would be Fitch but other than him; Rory and Koreshkov probably do have the best takedowns of any WW in Bellator and neither could take him down the last time they fought.

Rory takedowns are good. They arent even close to Usman or Covingtons level.

Yeah, Bellator has most of the better striking specialists currently, would be good to have some of them back in the UFC. MVP vs Wonderboy would be an amazing fight to see.

Meh Bellator has the bigger names. MVP is unproven.

Luque
Neal
Wonderboy
Masvidal

Ufc has just as many great strikers. They just have wrestlers too

likely would still lose to askren even after he got his hip replacement...bellator is absolute trash compared to ufc.
think g-league to NBA. Minor league baseball to major league baseball. MLS to La Liga. Arena football to NFL. Div 1 to Div 2 in college sports.

It's kind of amazing there are people who think there aren't elite fighters outside the UFC - yet we have seen many times guys from the B promotions become champions or contenders in the UFC lol.

Lima would absolutely have a shot at beating Usman, and he would be a top 5 WW.

He looks very promising. He beat Rorry twice and I was really impressed at how he beat the Venom.

rory stated the fight before he no longer wanted to hurt ppl...he lost in UFC and went to easier league and lost again. Dudes never been a champion in a major organization and that is an indisputable fact. i think he goes down to ONE championship and eventually loses there next.

to the posters saying there are elite fighters in other organizations...not those that are champions right now. the best ones leave early then go to UFC then become champions. If you stay in minor leagues, you know deep down you are incapable of beating the best of the best.

If Lima is so good, he should terminate his contract today with bellator and go to UFC (fight for cheap at first to prove a point). Beat at least 2 or 3 of Woodley/Magajaw/Edwards/Chiesa and show that are the best by beating Usman. But you know what is going to happen...he'll stay in Bellator and next year will lose to some other bellator scrub like MVP/etc then they will claim they are the best WW in the world. The cycle will keep repeating...

You...you want him to terminate his high paying contract to fight for peanuts? You know fighters are drastically underpaid as a whole and this is how they make their living right?

The top fighters in B promotions can hang with good UFC fighters, hence why they get paid a lot of money. What you're implying economically makes no sense.

Also, that isn't true that fighters leave early from the B leagues to the major leagues. How old do you think Eddie Alvarez was when he left Bellator and went to the UFC? He was around Lima's age....Lima is only 32 years old. Lima is pound for pound a better fighter than Alvarez in my opinion, quite frankly I am shocked Eddie even became UFC champion.

All the top guys in Strikeforce would have stayed in Strikeforce because they were paid better, and that wouldn't make them lesser fighters. People said the same thing with the WEC guys, and heck they even had a better point cause WEC was literally owned by the same company as the UFC - yet the top fighters in the WEC all did incredibly well in the UFC. Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis were literally in the lower promotion and became champions in the UFC almost right away - they didn't even need significant time to develop, they were essentially top ten caliber just not in the UFC.

Douglas Lima is pretty clearly a top ten WW if not a top 5 guy. I don't know how anyone can regularly watch MMA and not see that. The guy trains at American Top Team for god sakes, I highly doubt his UFC peers look at him as leser.

I've been in gyms that have UFC and Bellator guys, including a UFC champion. It isn't true at all that the top Bellator guys can't hang, they literally go there because Bellator pays a ton of money. The UFC isn't the NBA or MLB, it doesn't pay high enough to get all of the top end talent. Furthermore because of the way gyms work you can literally train to become a UFC caliber fighter without having to go into the UFC - you can't get NBA caliber training unless you're in the NBA, for the most part. Top tier gyms in MMA are accessible to anyone.

if he beats everyone in UFC like I said he'll make double what he makes right now in bellator (doubt he's making much per fight just the big 1 mill paycheck for winning the tourney which he likely won't win next year)

Eddie barely won a couple fights before fighting RDA and getting a KO against a dude that had no/minimal title defenses. then gets KO'ed by Conman then goes to ONE (worst promotion think Div III Sports) and promptly loses right away. Eddie is one of the overrated fighters ever in UFC...I mean at least be able to defend your belt at least twice...

maybe, maybe not. WW in ufc is wrasslers heavy, so maybe he will have tough time dealing with them. maybe he will KO Marty within 30 seconds. I hope ufc offers him 1m per fight so we can find out.

In terms of pure strikers I think Bellator has the 3 best WWs Lima, MVP and Daley and then Larkin is on the same level as everyone you mentioned.

I agree with just about everything other than your opinion on Eddie, he was ranked in the top 5-10 for like a decade and he's one of the best LWs of all time, Lima is very good and might be the best WW in the world but he's not close to having the achievements Eddie has.
